Nvidia Shield PMS non functional

Setup: NVidia shield pro with built in hard drive and a HDHomerun Extend. Plex pass lifetime subscriber.

Is it possible to get a refund for plex pass? I am done with plex.

I think my issues are mostly around running PMS on the Shield. I only got the plex pass to use the live DVR and after a year of trying to make it work I have given up. I originally had a Hauppage USB tuner. I switched to a HDHomerun Extend thinking that it would allow the the Live TV + DVR to function better pushing any transcoding to the device instead of having to do any transcode on the shield, but it has not made a difference. I have constant crashes and buffering when watching live TV. The HDhomerun app in contrast works fine. Plex reports that it is doing direct play.

I also tried the beta program to see if the latest version was maybe any better and I experienced the same crashes.

When I try to record a show 50% of the time Plex crashes in the middle of a recording and then restarts itself. When PMS restarts it triggers an EPG guide refresh, which takes 20 minutes and the Nvidia shield becomes completely unusable while it refreshes.

Have you tried upgrading the firmware of your HDHomeRun? According to your logs (Line 47) it’s not even seeing the tuner. You should be able to navigate to http://my.hdhomerun.com to determine what firmware you’re running.

I have the exact same setup, right down to running the beta builds. Are you recording to the Shield Pro’s internal HDD or a NAS? Is the Shield hardwired? Also what recording profile are you using on the Extend? Original Quality disables its HW transcoding.

I trust that you’re having these issues, but it’s just odd to have all the same equipment and services and not see any of them. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had some broken recordings here and there, but I’ve never owned a DVR that worked perfectly no matter the config.
