Plex on nVidia Shield w/ DVR using HDHomeRuns (original ATSC models)

Server Version#: 1.25.3.5410
Player Version#: 8.29.0.30433

Just a few observations from the past few weeks on moving my Plex to an nVidia Shield 2017 with (2) HDHomeRun ATSC tuners.

I recently setup Plex Server on my Shield 2017 model with SMB shares and also a 512 GB m.2 sata SSD <–> USB3 adapter for Plex Storage.

I never used plex as a DVR (used MythTV since the early 2000s) before, but thought I would try it as the shield makes a nice compact solution when mounting network shares for my libraries.

A few things I found:

Upgrading my Shield Experience to 9.0 when it came out a few weeks ago broke everything since there is some sort of external storage issue with that nVidia Adnroid release. Rolling back the Shield to 8.2 fixed it - although I had to completely redo my Plex installation from scratch to get it all working again.

My HDHomeRuns were both running 20210422 firmware and LiveTV would not work on any devices, although the DVR worked fine. Dropping them back to 20170930 firmware made live tv work in all clients. I had never used the live tv feature, so not sure if this is a known bad combo, but hey it is working now.

The only reason I kept with MythTV for so long was the single button commercial skip, but I see Plex has that as well now, so thanks to everyone who writes that code!

Well,

I spoke too soon. I am seeing something very strange with the Plex client on the same Shield as the PMS.

When I start the app, the logo comes up and then it exits. Starting it the 2nd time always brings it up. Also Live TV still does not work on this Shield with PMS. Web, Androind and other Shields not running PMS, it works fine. It does do a Display Resolution change, but then just spins forever. Every other device gets LiveTV fine though. YMMV
