Nvidia shield pro 2019 plex will not play ac3

Server Version#:NVIDIA SHIELD PRO
Player Version#: NVIDIA SHIELD PRO

Hi,

I cannot hear the video/ films sound that are ac3 sound using the PLEX as a server on the SHIELD PRO 2019. If I transcode then I can hear the converted aac sound.

If I use the VLC app on SHIELD and I can hear the ac3 sound & checking settings confirms this.

If I use the PLEX TV LG app, PLEX Xbox one X app, Windows PC, I can hear the ac3 (original sound) all OK.

I have read many posts & tried multiple suggestions.

To me the issue seems to be with the PLEX APP ON NVIDIA SHIELD.

Has anyone found a fix for this so ac3 will work on the NVIDIA SHIELD PLEX app?
Is PLEX working to fix the app?

Thanks

What kind of equipment is connected to the Shield? Only a TV? Or is there an AVR inbetween Shield and TV?

Either way, check the Plex app preferences on the Shield. Toggle the ‘passthrough’ setting and try again.

Same issue

Hi.

Thanks for the response. I have the shield pro 2019 connected via hdmi to a Samsung Soundbar that can handle codec etc. I have toggled pass through on and off several times in the plex app, checked the sound settings are correct on the shield & tried other multiple recommendations in forums, but nothing I do will get it to work. If i use xbox, or tv apps, no problems.

I have a 2 Terrabyte drive as the storage with usb 3 connected to the shield & have tried both as internal & external/ added storage, no difference, the plex app will not play ac3.

I have tried the KODI app on shield and this works perfectly fine. To be honest, apart from a few more settings to play with, the KODI app seems much more superior to Plex in that everything I have tried to do in KODI works straight away without issue.

Plex just gives multiple problems. I have 109 MBPS internet everything is wired. I do not have any issues with anything else, it all works, all apart from the Plex app on shield.

Like many others, after much investigation, time & experimenting, it all points to the Plex app on shield that is the problem.

Unless a solution come up quick, I think I will stick to KODI.
