I cannot watch my movies with a Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 using passthrough.
Audio is completely out of sync.
My setup:
Nvidia Shield 2019 + Plex with passthrough enable -> HDMI -> TV -> HDMI ARC -> Sonos Beam
If I disable passthrough, there is no issue but my Beam receives stereo sound
If I remove Nvidia Shield, it works fine.
TV + Plex with passthrough enable -> HDMI ARC -> Sonos Beam
I don’t know if it’s a Nvidia issue or a Plex issue but it makes my Shield unusable.
I am having an audio Sync issue as well with my Shield 2019 pro in Plex. Are you on hotfix 4, or official release software for the Shield? Does audio passthrough work with Plex for Kodi? Kodi seems to pass the audio normally for me so I’m not sure what the cause is.
8.1.0 official release.
I just tried Plex with Kodi yesterday, same audio delay happens, with passthrough enabled in Kodi. The result of disabling passthrough in Kodi is a stereo sound instead of DD 5.1.
On an other forum, someone reported to me that he has also audio sync issue using an old shield with 8.0.1.
@brockrohl where is located your audio system? Just after the shield? Or after your TV like my mentioned setup above? (Shield > TV > Sound system or Shield > Sound system > TV?)
I really hope there is no issue if the sound system is placed just after Shield but I’m not sure at all.
It’s fixed.
I bought a HW-Q90R and I do not have audio delay anymore with passthrough enabled.
New setup:
Nvidia Shield & Plex > HDMI > Soundbar > HDMI > TV
It works perfectly now so don’t buy a Sonos Beam which has only HDMI IN
thanks puzzled… So you continue the delay manually configured in your Amp? My projector has a VLC app and works fine… This is clearly a nvidia shield issue… thats baad!!
Mine may have been a different issue but when I turned off the auto lip sync feature and just left it on a manually set delay (40ms i think) then the lip sync issues pretty much went away. I’ve got the 2015 shield pro which is still on the older software as I heard about issues with audio passthrough dropping out. Will need to update soon though as Netflix and Disney+ has stopped working.
Correct lip sync can be a nuisance in general tbh as different equipment and even content at different refresh rates can affect the delay and once you notice the issue its really hard not to notice it. Do you only get the audio sync problem in Plex or do you notice it on any other video (Youtube, Netflix, Prime etc)?
I don’t know if the Sonos beam has an adjustable delay, if not you might find it in the TV settings for HDMI ARC.
