Nvidia Shield Pro Playback Problem

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058
Player Version#: 7.25.0.14185 (222dfa44)

I have 2 videos on my plex server that have extreme lag when trying to view them on my shield. It is over a direct network connection on my server over my network. I was thinking that maybe that it was struggling with the 1080p but I tried a 4k video and played with no issues. My Samsung TV plays the videos with no issues as well as my web interface on the desktop PC. Videos will get the spinning circle for about 15 seconds then play about 3 seconds more and stop for another 15 or so seconds and then will play another 3 seconds or so. I played the video from another app (game trailer) and it played on the shield just fine. Any ideas what could cause them to not play and how to fix them?

Thanks!

Anyone have any ideas on this issue?

Not clear from your post whether you’re comparing direct play on shield, with direct play or transcoding on your samsung tv/web interface. Regardless, there’s an updated version of the app for the shield tv. I would also attempt a reboot (had to do that this morning to get 4k playback working again).
Shield TV is a bit flaky after apps get updated and sometimes even a reboot doesn’t always resolve issues. So also try complete shutdown/remove power/wait a minute/plugin.
Otherwise follow the advice on the forums and post a log of what’s going.

I would check to see if your Plex got switched over to the ‘New Player’. Same thing happened to me. Once I turned ‘New Player’ off everything was working correctly again (no stopping/stuttering). Plex’s ‘New Player’ is crap right now.

I have updated and restarted with no help also it is direct play on all devices. Still only plays for a few seconds then needs to load for about 15 seconds. Video plays fine with all other platforms just not shield pro. I turned off new player and it did noting to help. I did see a brief message my connection was not fast enough for the quality, but the video is 1080p and I play movies from my 4k movies folder just fine.
