Nvidia shield remote stream error

Server Version#: 1.18.7.2415
Player Version#: 7.28.0

Nvidia shield 2017 remotely connected to my server can’t play some video files, he keeps getting:
“An error occured while attempting to play this video. Please try restarting both the plex media server and this app.”
see server log attached to this post
“ERROR - Streaming Resource: Cannot make a decision because either the file is unplayable or the client provided bad data”
“DEBUG - Streaming Resource: Reached Decision id=8226 codes=(General=2000,Neither direct play nor conversion is available. Direct Play=3000,App cannot direct play this item. No conversion profile found for protocol http.) media=(id=15635 part=(id=15636 decision=none protocol=http streams=(Video=(id=49666 decision= width=1920 height=1080) Audio=(id=49668 decision= channels=6 rate=48000) Subtitle=(id=49670 decision=unavailable languageCode=eng location=embedded))))”

Disabling the “new video player” solve this issue but I think a proper fix is required

I keep getting this error as well on my Shield Pro. I restarted it and the server. It will not play a bunch of files that my Samsung TV app will play and the web player. Seems to be just the Shield.

The new player stinks goto settings in the app and switch back to the old player it plays almost everything.

Ahh well I have 2 users with different access to content apparently you need to change this option on all users to fix it not just one thanks for pointing it out.

Edit: Well It fixed some videos. I have a few series that play with an extreme stutter. Play for a few seconds then stop for about 15 seconds then continue for maybe 1 second or so. Any thoughts? Its only on the Shield Pro on a home network. Samsung TV and PC plays just fine.

could be several things are you on wired or wireless? if wireless check your signal.

are you direct playing or trans coding? if your trans coding are you using hardware assist? if so what os and hardware are you running the server on?

If your Direct playing is the audio being trans coded?

there are many other things that could be the issue.

Both the server and the Shield are wired, and the system is direct play. Hardware assist is off but just for the record I have Windows 10 Pro AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 16GB of ram. I do not believe the audio if transcoded.

We are looking into this issue.

yeah hardware should be turned off for amd unless you have a nvidia card but if your direct playing that should not be the issue. just to rule everything out on your end ping your sheild ip from your windows pc. Start>windows system> command prompt. then type ping sheild ip -n ie ping 192.168.0.20 -n

this will start a ping loop let it run for a few min if you see anything more than a few ms for response time it maybe a networking issue. close the window or Control c to stop the ping.

When I ping the Ip address with the command you gave me it says it could not find the host. I changed the command to

ping -t 192.168.1.20 and received a 1ms 0% loss on 40 packets. I don’t know for sure if that command will give me the same results but it seems so.

is there an update on this?
thanks

sorry for the late reply been busy with RL in your plex player app in settings in under video qaulity do you have adjust auto on? if so turn that off. under video home stream and remote to max just incase its thinking its a remote ip. under advanced, refresh rate off. that should stop anything that woud put extra load on the server.

now the sheild settings under system nvida share off processor mode to max and fan to cool. also if your not using the plex server on the sheild force stop the app. Settings > apps > see all apps > plex media server > stop then disable.

if you already have all this or this is not a fix might be a windows issue. cross that bridge next.

I use my plex server every night, found these videos not loading was a big enough problem I just ended up just returning the Shield. My Roku and Samsung TV both run all just fine. I appreciate the help. Thank you!
