Nvidia Shield suddenly not showing movie/episode text for 'continue watching' and 'recently added'

Hey guys,

Using the Nvidia Shield as a player. Version 10.11.0.183. I no longer see movie and TV show episode text on the continue watching or recently added sections of the dashboard. If I go in to movie library view it’s still there, but it looks really strange not being there on the front dashboard. Is there any way to fix this?

When you say dashboard do you mean the home screen, or the individual library recommended tab? If the home screen, which layout are you using?

All good questions. Yeah I’m talking about the home layout that shows continue watching and recently added for all libraries

If I go to my individual movie library, using ‘library’ mode, It looks normal. I can post pictures if it’s helpful. I’ll update my main post

I did check my theme and I’m using classic theme

This is where the issue is I think. Thank you for report.

I appreciate the quick response on this. I assume this is on the client side and not the server side?

Is there anything I can do to help test or validate once this is corrected?

Yeah it is a client issue.

I don’t think so. I imagine it will be pretty obvious when corrected. (I can’t promise any ETA)

I can confirm this as well.

It’s only doing it on the “Home” tab on the classic interface (which I use because I don’t want to see any episode spoilers with the synopsis that appears at the top of the screen on the new interface).

If you step down the left hand column then the titles and episode numbers are shown, as per OP pics.

It’s definitely down to the March 11 update as I just forced an update on my 2015 Shield TV that is in my kitchen and it is doing the same as happened to my 2019 Shield TV when it updated Plex and the same as the OP.

@BigWheel

This issue was fixed with an update, now back to no details on Home screen continue watching with classic theme following 9th April update on Shield TV.

No lies there, latest update broke something again.

Just noticed the same issue on my 2017 shield with the classic theme.

Update yesterday, not fixed.

So, is this going to be fixed? It is an absolute nuisance not being able to see the show episode details.

Any updates on the status of this bug. Bumping for visibility. Thanks.

Another week and no fix. As with most things Plex, I’m having to do a dance to have it working as it should, something I’ve been forced to do for years due to the lacklustre DVR offering which was the main reason I took a Plex Pass…

For this recurring bug this is “fixed” by clicking on each individual library and I can now see episode numbers. Hardly ideal, and makes the Home tab pretty much defunct on classic theme - I DO NOT WANT TO SEE EPISODE SYNOPSIS SPOILERS (which i why I use the classic theme).

This happens for me in all themes, including Plex Pass exclusive ones like Moonlight and Bubble Gum, regardless if Content Layout is set Theme Default, Classic, or Modern. This is on a Shield with 10.14.0.541.

FWIW, specifically, I find it frustrating to not be able to see episode numbers.

Bumping this once again for visibility.

Still not fixed, 3 months later - has this been forgotten about? Is there nobody fixing bugs that have been introduced? Are you too busy trying to monetize something else while leaving something you borked in an update continually broken?

edit: DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT YOUR USERS WANT?!

Lets bump this back up again.

And again, 4 months this has been going on now, a word of warning to anyone thinking of forking out the ASTRONOMICAL new Plex Pass lifetime fee - this is the level of support you can expect…

Is there nobody working in Plex support that is able to fix this long outstanding bug that was introduced via an update?
