For a while now the Plex Dashboard on the Nvidia Shield was a bit “sluggish” refreshing the dashboard. Here are some examples of how it worked before the update:
- Newly added items were shown immediately
- items that were deleted from a different client were still available on the shield and weren’t removed
- episodes that I watched on the shield update to the next episode in “Continue Watching”
This now got worse with the 10.19 version because now the Dashboard doesn’t want to update in most/all cases unless I specifically force the update by switching to a library and back to “home”.
- Newly added items are not available on the shield but are visible in Plex for Windows or on the WebUI
- items that were deleted from a different client were still available on the shield
- “Continue watching” does not update to the next episode when I watched the previous one, hitting play on the episode on continue watching will just play the episode you just watched
- Even Items that I delete on the Shield and that show the “content unavailable” screen after deletion are still available on the Dashboard on the Shield while the WebUI and Plex for Windows correctly update the dashboard.
This seems to apply to everything on the Dashboard and not just particular Sections. For example, I have pinned some Collections to the dashboard that see a lot of library item fluctuations, videos that get added, I watch and delete them. They are still available after deletion.
As I mentioned before, all of that can be forced to update by switching to one of my libraries and switching back to “home” which then shows the current state but after that, nothing is being updated again.
I also noticed that the Poster quality on the Shield is very different to what other clients are showing me, even at the maximum Item size. Unfortunately, I cannot take a picture of it because the quality gets degraded even further. But if I have this poster in my Library, this is a very low resolution on the Dashboard but when I am in the Library “Recommended” Section it is more detailed as if it is a different image that is being used for either of them. For example, the small brownish dot to the bottom right of the embossed log is clearly visible in the Library “Recommended” Section but only a blurry blob in the image displayed on the dashboard.
