Nvidia Shield TV and Plex did this work with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA?

Hi,

can the Nvidia Shield TV with plex-media-player installed passthrough dolby truehd and dts-hd MA ?

and did i get the ASS subtitles working without transcoding ?

I actually have a Fire TV 4K Max but the sound output iss horrible, only DD+ 5.1 iss supported

Yes.

In beta.

Thank you very much, then I will return the Fire TV.

Before you return the fire tv. What’s the receiver set up, connection to app, capabilities etc?

Reciever is Onkyo TX-SR806 HDMI 1.3a and HDCP 2.2 i think.

Plex TV Player Setup at the Fire TV is HDMI Passthrough.
FireTV only works with Dolby Digital + or Dolby Digital, DTS was cancelled in Fire TV Firmware because license rights (i think since FireOS 6.xx)

Plex Server is a Synology DS218+ and LAN Cable with 100Mbit to the FireTV Stick

On my Playstation 4 with Plex TV App DTS works and Dolby Digital works with Plex App
BluRays i can play in DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD from PS4 but that has nothing to do with Plex App but the AV-Reciever can decode it with Passthrough (Bitstream).

So just to be clear, your preferred set up is playing media on TV and bitstream passing through to receiver, or getting a proper media box e.g. Apple TV, Nvidia Shield, Xbox etc hooked up to the receiver which passes 4K signal to TV?

Set up was i expecting is Nvidia Shield - Receiver - TV, this would have the greatest degree of success and would have little to do with what your TV is capable of via ARC.

If that’s the case, return fire tv stick. Get Nvidia Shield

Described exactly right except for the 4k signal is only a 1080p signal

I mainly want to use the Plex app for streaming Movies via LAN from the NAS, but also have the functionality of the Android TV interface from the Nivida Shield.

I have an older FullHD TV without any Android or other OS on it.
