Nvidia Shield TV Pro + PC acting as NAS

Hi all,

I’d really like this answered before I potentially spend £200 GBP on a shield tv pro. My setup currently is using a plex media server on my pc using an internal HDD with movies and my LG tv has plex installed on it but only as a fast ethernet port and it buffers/struggles to play movies in 4k HDR. Would anyone be able to confirm if I buy the shield I can use that as a client, given it has a gigabit ethernet port I would have no problems playing movies from my pc to the shield to my tv?

I can answer any question you guys have if needed.

Can’t speak to using a NAS in any form, but I just migrated my Plex instance over to a 2019 Shield Pro and have been very happy with it. Previously, I had an iMac (maxxed out specs 2013 model) and HD movies would stutter constantly, even when the iMac was on the wired network. The shield with a simple bus powered USB external drive and a wired connection is streaming 4K to one client just fine. Haven’t tested more than one client. My plan going forward is to replace the external drive with a larger one, stand up a multi-purpose NAS, and periodically rsync media to/from the shield’s external drive.
