Hi, I’ve set up my Shield TV as PLEX Server and attached a samsung EVO external ssd with (NTFS). It works very well but I have one question and wasn’t able to find an easy explanation:
How do I access the external SDD connected to my Shield via Ethernet to add new movies? I can see the ssd and move content to the pc but not copy content from PC to SSD
I believe the shield pro 2019 uses smb version 1 which microsoft doesn’t include or is not active (for security reasons) with windows 10. There are some steps to install it but I gave up. Why nvidia uses this version in their latest and greatest is ridiculous and worrying. I believe they’ve updated the shield pro 2017 to smb version 2 or 3 (cant remember) but the 2019 is stuck at the moment with smb 1.
I’m using an 8tb seagate for my content and the only way I’ve found to upload content other than to re-connect the usb drive to windows pc, is to use x-plore android app that creates a wi-fi server. Then I can transfer any content to the external drive from any pc. Takes a bit longer though.
You only have write rights to the NVIDIA_SHIELD folder. The way I do it is to have a Media folder inside that folder, where I separate my media per type. Anything inside NVIDIA_SHIELD should be readable/writeable.
