plex is constantly finding new shows that have not been touched in ages, it finds them, redownloads metadata, and puts them into recently added, this behaviour occours with shows and movies, any ideas why? i am using drivebender if that helps?
Is this checkbox ticked: ?
Settings - Server - Library - “Empty trash automatically after every scan”
If yes, clear it and keep an eye on the issue.
What maybe happens is this:
one or several drives are slow to wakeup when Plex server performs a library update. As a result, the files on these drive(s) appear to plex as deleted.
It swiftly removes them from the library, as per the instruction from the above mentioned checkbox.
When the next library update is executed and the drive(s) in question are already spun up, the media are found again, and are now treated as being new.
This is the downside of storage pools. Plex sees the pool as ‘one drive’.
You could easily point a Plex library to several drives at once. If one of the drives then fails to spin up fast enough, plex just treats the drive as temporarily unavailable.
still does it…
Do you put the episodes into the proper folder structure or is it just one big flat folder?
Is there a second “media software” on your computer which accesses this folder too, so the ‘modified’ timestamps of the files do constantly change?
Is the realtime clock of all involved devices set up properly? (Yes, sounds weird, but is actually important since Plex is relying on correct time stamps to check for ‘modified’ files and folders).
Check NTP configuration.
