So looking to probe the mind of the DVR scheduling geniuses here. Have a weird problem with some of my PBS shows. A new season of Cooks Country as started. Season 17, Episode 1 is on the PBS website, so I think its already aired. Now my local PBS affiliates are kind of dumb. They typically don’t air the episodes on the original air date, they wait a week or two. I can’t actually record this episode until this coming Wed. So it’s no longer marked as new in the EPG. So I have to change the recordings to “New & Repeats”. Here’s where it gets weird, Plex wants to record the repeats as well. For instance, today it want to record “S16·E9—Biscuits and Chicken” off 67.2, which is an SD channel. Thing is, I already have this episode in my library and it’s 1080p. I follow the Plex naming guidelines pretty strictly, Here’s the episode in question - “Season 16/Cook’s Country (2014) - S16E09 - Biscuits and Chicken.mp4”. I actually have this problem with America’s Test Kitchen and Christopher Kimble’s Milk Street TV. I usully just have it record from one station which limits the repeats and if I can, just record from the HD channel. But usually repeats end up happening and in fact, will record multiple copies of the same episode over and over. I pretty much have to put up with it until the season is done and then I switch back over to “New Airings Only”
Plex is acting like it doesn’t even know those episodes are there. My DB is fine, I’ve run ChuckPA’s DB program and no error were detected. I’ve got “Prefer HD” selected.
This has been going on well over a year, so I don’t think its tied to a server version.
Anyone else see something like this or have ideas on why its happening?
