Whilst working my way through various test clips setting up my Odroid C2 I have seen significant screen tearing every few seconds on certain video clips. This seems to be happening on high bitrate files (40Mbps) with 30, 50 & 60 fps
These files will play without issue on any of my RPi2 setups.
I am in the process of uploading one of the files to dropbox, once it’s complete I’ll add a link here so others can test but in the meantime I have pasted the media info for that particular file below
I am running OpenPHT 1.6.2.123 on an Odroid C2 connected via ethernet cable with the resolution set to 4k
Is this a known fault?
Here’s the link to the Visions_t04 file
I tested this using a prebuild version of 1.6.3.125 I was entrusted with for testing a while ago. I did not see any screen tearing, so I imagine the fix is already in the next release, which is looking to jump to 1.7 possibly.
I just watched it on the current build 1.6.2.123 and didn’t see any screen tearing, is it obvious to notice?

Thanks for testing with this clip. Just to be sure, did you test this clip with the Odroid resolution set to 3840X2160 & 60fps? I also have the setting to adjust display rate set to Always.
If I set my Odroid resolution to 1920x1080p then this test clip will play back with no errors.
@coz2001 The screen tearing is very obvious, up to 3/4 of the screen jumps out of position. If it was happening you wouldn’t be able to miss it
@“Stewie Griffin” I don’t have a screen available in this location that goes up past 1080p 60fps . This may be strictly a 4k display issue as you point out.
@benjaminwolf Ok, thanks for clarifying. I have opened an issue about this on Github
I have now looked at your clip with the resolution set to 3840x2160p and here is how mine looks https://www.dropbox.com/s/j2m4k9iyr3juamq/File%2013-10-2016%2C%2003.36.28.mov?dl=0, so there is a issue somewhere, but I also checked with some other 4K videos I got and there don’t seem to be any issue, so could it be something wrong with your clip have your checked with other videos?
@coz2001 Your clip shows the same screen tearing that I am seeing. I have checked various clips and most will play just fine but if I try to play a high bitrate file with 30, 50 or 60 fps the tearing returns. It seems to happen when there is a lot of movement on the screen, things like running water, bumper cam from a rally car, flying over the sea are the kind of things that trigger it.
Changing the resolution to 1080 fixes it so I believe it’s probably a bug & im hoping the team can fix it.
