Older Samsung smart TVs - is app available?

I’m delighted with Plex with Roku working on my dumb TV but would like to use Plex alone with my Samsung 5500 series smart TV. This is about a year too old for the app in the Samsung app store.
An article at https://www.techjunkie.com/stream-plex-samsung-smart-tv/ says older TVs might support Plex accordig to a list at https://www.samsung.com/us/appstore/app/G00002687241.
However, this page sees to have been updated and is just a plug for Plex, with no list of models.
Does anyone know, please, whether there is a list of suitable TVs or an app for these older TVs and where they can be found?
TIA

There used to be an app for older models. But this was made by an independent developer, who now had to cease working on it. So this app fell into disrepair and is currently not working well anymore.

I recommend you to get a device with a supported Plex client, like a Roku, Apple TV, FireTV, nVidia Shield etc.

Ahh, Orca’s app. The thing that first introduced me to Plex. :slightly_smiling_face:
Simpler times in many ways.

I have a 2012 TV. I use Orca’s Plex App maybe every week. For movies, photos, music. It works absolutely fine. Try it.

Yes but what version server are you using? Probably a 1.14 or earlier…

You mean the PMS? No, I always update when there is a new version (1.16 these days I believe).

I have a standard set-up I would think. PMS running on an average desktop. Only thing not very standard probably is my TV is connected via Wifi to my home network although wired is usually recommended! It still works fine though and I watch movie files of 3/4GB without issues.

Not saying that Orca’s app will work for everyone, clearly looking at the forum it does not although not always possible to determine what the real cause is. But - it is definitely working without any glitch or special settings etc. for some people (but of course they don’t usually post in the forum just to report that their Plex is working fine…)
