I would like the Android application to show items from the shared library in the On Deck and Recently Added sections.
Currently, my family members have their own Plex accounts. When they use the Android application, the On Deck and Recently Added sections are empty as they do not have servers and library's of their own.
I have family members accessing via shared libraries on FireTV devices. I find it bizarre that they essentially see a blank page (empty library) when launching Plex and need to switch to a screen called "social" to find content.
Just add a option to have "share libraries appear as home screen" and make the view the same as the main account with on-deck and recently added content.
yes there are plans for this based on what the newer apps can do
currently it does not yet work with managed users but if you put a regular user with a free plex account in your “Plex Home” it will with the current release.
as far as i know sooner or later it will be like the Web app where you choose what server you want to view and that servers things populate the home screen ( that is how it currently works on the Android TV / Nexus Player )
Thanks for the hint that Home-Users don't have to suffer the depressing black welcome screen in the Android app anymore ... unfortunately we don't want to add our (reputedly) grown up kids who are living on their own to Plex Home (no need for user switching or a pin - and better no access to the unloved brothers' Plex -_- ) , so we hope very much this will be expanded to all users with shared libraries soon.
If you use "Plex Home" and add your family members to it then they will see content like your wanting.
Further with the newest version of the Android app, if you do not wish to use Plex Home, when a user selects your server from the dropdown they will see On Deck, recently added just like it was their own server.
