On Deck, Continue Watching & Recently Added

Talking about the recently added since there’s ones for each library

One of our devs had a look at this, and couldn’t reproduce this. Can you please confirm the version of both the TV app you’re using, and your server version?

Samsung 6 Series (65)
Model UN65KU650D
Plex Client Version 5.6.1
Platform Version 2.4

Others in the thread said they were experiencing the same problem, so it may be affecting other smartTV models or platforms.

Sorry for the duplicate post. I couldn’t see on the phone if it replied to you.

Can you please confirm your server version?

As elasticmaster states the problem with duplicate entries exists on other smart TVs as well:

LG WebOS 5.2.0.2508
Client Version: 5.6.1
Platform: 5.2.0
Server: 1.21.1.3876

This is in early access mode on the TV - I dont use this at all because the home screen ins now such a disaster and is unusable for me. It was great up to about a month ago but now is unusable

Also happening on apple tv the home screen is a total shambles now, i have my tv split into genres and to now have multiple rows of recently added has made it a chore to use and looks a fright so much stuff gets added and never seen now unless i remwmber and then go hunting for it
An utter omnishambles !

Are the rows identical or one for each TV library?
If it’s one for each Plex is working as intended, by Plex.

Do you mean multiple rows of recently added, with one per library, or multiple rows with the exact same content in the exact same order, as shown in the screenshot shared by @elasticmaster?

Its multiple rows of recently added to correspond with each genre i have split my tv shows into

Then that is working as intended for now.

wow !
i stand by my opinion then its an absolute omnishambles

If you haven’t already, I suggest you read the original post I shared when I started this thread, which explains why things are the way they are.

yes i have i also read your post where you accused us users of using the software incorrectly !
The arrogance of plex these days is staggering this is how you destroy you destroy your userbase, but go ahead its all about the money now i see, to hell with usability, bug testing or customer happiness.

I’m sorry you’re taking so much heat on this thread. We all really appreciate that you’re here and working with us. I do think it’s important to point out that customizing libraries is a huge part of the Plex experience for your most hardcore users. The ability to customize is literally why we love Plex. It defeats the purpose to push new features if they require hardcore users to change the basic structure of their Plex libraries in such a significant way. It almost feels like Plex developers don’t know their core supporters. The fair weather users will just go with the flow, but should they really be your focus?

While this may be a good option sometime in the future, it’s a terrible mess right now and you should preserve the option to revert to the previous implementation for all users server side. No one likes this on my server and it would be great to have a setting to just switch everyone back. This is a bad move.

There are plenty of good reasons why multiple movie and TV libraries are preferred over collections and that shouldn’t necessitate half a dozen recently added lists which don’t even say which library they belong to.

The original post seemed to indicate that merging OD and CW was released ahead of schedule. I’m not sure if the multiple RA rows was an accidental release of not.
Dave has said a few times that future changes will make these changes make sense.

I understand people have frustrations, but please understand this is an interim step, towards a far more customisable Home Screen and Recommended tab, which we hope will suit users with both many and few libraries. We’re also hoping to solve some of the issues that make people feel like they need to split out libraries, so they can condense their libraries, if they wish.

This is awesome, but I also hope that condensing libraries does not become a requirement, because there are many reasons, both logical & illogical, and simple personal preference, why people use multiple libraries.

This biggest issue for me, and I only have a small number of same type libraries, is the separation of recently added.

For my use case, there are no foreseeable situation or circumstance where separate recently added hubs will be more useful than a single combined recently added hub per type.

I hope to be wrong about that (separate RA), but I fear that I am not.

And from the looks of this thread, I am not alone in this opinion.

As I mentioned, we’re working towards solutions that will suit people with both many, and few libraries (though fewer libraries is more common). However, that doesn’t preclude us from improving the experience so that users don’t feel the need to split their libraries in as many cases as they do now.
