On Deck, Continue Watching & Recently Added

So Dan you saying within the Library view, select a Collection then select a member of that collection. This being the opposite of Collection view. Am I correct in this assumption.

If it helps, I have my settings to show movies in the library even if they’re in a collection.

Same, and it rolls on to next movie.

I have tested just now and using a Collection in Library view, then selecting a member of that collection, resulted in no roll over to next Film.

Cool pluxology

I don’t either - and none of mine roll on to the next movie in a collection as if Auto Play was on… 'cause that would be F-in CRAZY… so… no… that’s not happening.

ALL I HAVE ARE COLLECTIONS. Some insane s*&t would be Auto-Playing the next movie in a Collection of 487 ā€œ50sā€ Movies would put me into Earth Orbit without a spacecraft - so I can absolutely say that isn’t happening - and it’s good thing too.

auto play movies in a collection is a bit off topic for this thread.

I have had it happen, and I PREFER it. I believe it happens when you ā€˜play’ a collection (as in the collection becomes a playlist).

that said, auto play/continuous play ought to be user controllable.

Ok well I was thinking more of the auto play time out.

But anyway, as you say, assuming all clients expose those settings (I have not checked or confirmed in any manner).

Further discussion or assertion of contested/undesired collection playback behavior should continue in a new thread, with appropriate details, logs, and videos if useful.

This is still the major problem. Earlier they said they couldn’t replicate the problem, but it’s a clear issue. Also, they haven’t added an option to manage the home screen on the SmartTV apps. So what exactly are you seeing that got fixed?

Glad I’m not the only one then. I can replicate it every time.

The issue that I saw fixed was the recently added sections were limited to 10 for a while where it used to be more like 50. It is now back to being ~50.

Did there used to be a manual manage option on smart TV’s? I’m sure it used to be a thing…

Depends on the OS the TV is using. My TV’s use Roku so, yes.

Roku is a third party app. MessiahComp1ex was referring to the native Plex app in the SmartTVs. I can’t remember if we had the option to manage the Home Screen before, but it seems like we must have.

Roku is not a third party app. It’s an app that we develop and maintain.

Manually managing the home screen has never been an option on the web based Smart TV apps, like Samsung, PlayStation or XBox

Sorry, I used the wrong term. I just meant that it’s separate Plex platform than the TV itself. So are you saying on the SmartTV there will be no way to change back to single Recently Added TV and Movie lines? It will be pretty disappointing to be stuck with this. Either way, there is still no fix for the duplication glitch, sadly.

Are you sure about that? Because I’m sure it was a thing back when the new UI was first rolled out, and reading back through the changelogs for the Samsung and Xbox apps in the Announcements section (I only use those two platforms and have been enrolled in the early access since it was initially rolled out so I’m quite familiar with them) would suggest otherwise.

For example in the Samsung updates thread from the 9th August 2019 onwards:

Fixed an issue that caused the app to become unresponsive after deleting a hub from the Home screen

Disabled the option to add hubs to home screen when Automatic Home is enabled

Fixed pinned sources occasionally not influencing home screen content when switching between Auto and Custom modes

Yes, just like all other TV Operating Systems. WebOS, Android, etc…

Yes, but the SmartTVs have their own version of the app without having to use a separate device, and that’s what we were talking about, not Roku. Does the Roku app not allow you to manage the Home Page either?

There are obviously Roku devices, the same as there are Android TV devices but Roku TV’s run on the Roku OS, not a separate device.
The Roku Plex app does allow you to Mabage Home.

Ok, so what is being done to support the current issues with the Samsung, LG, etc. SmartTV apps? Aside from the inability to manage away this new Home Screen layout, there’s still no fix for the glitch.

What ?? That’s absolute BS?

Well, that was a very uninformative reply. :slightly_smiling_face:

Or better yet, address these issues. I have close to 800 TV shows split into very customized libraries by genre. I don’t want people scrolling through them in one long library trying to find something to watch, and I don’t want to lose my customization. Since I already use collections within those libraries to separate shared universes, collections won’t solve the problem unless they can start going two levels deep. Rather than forcing us to reduce our libraries to make features like related cast credits work properly, the focus should be on making all of those features cross libraries. Knowing how important they are to some of us (for multiple reasons) is a good reason to make them MORE functional, not make us less reliant on them.
