On Deck, Continue Watching & Recently Added

Yeah thats what i see now I have one for my Family TV Shows and one for my Normal TV shows, and then one for my Films and one for my Family films etc
so cos I have 10 library’s as most where made before collections was a thing and merging them would be the biggest ballache ever it means I have 10 rows of Recently added and this is what I took issue to as I work up this morning to a number of messages from my friends asking what the hell had i done.

So as you can imagine this got my back up a bit

I hope we have an option to continue with a unified recently added list. It was nearly perfect and will be horribly broken, IMHO, if every library is required to have its own, separate recently added list.

On a related note, I was able to return to the single recently added lists (one for movies and one for tv shows) by switching the home screen to stop being managed automatically. I was hoping to at least be allowed to choose the sequence of the dozens of recently added lists that were displayed, but imagine my surprise when I was not allowed to customize the sequence of those because they were all removed when I stopped allowing automatic home screen management! Not at all what I expected, but so far, it seems like happy results.

Yeah, I can understand that, and there are certainly some people who have many, many libraries (I’m pretty sure at least one of our employees has 20+), but the vast majority of people only have one or two libraries of the same type. So we’re striving to find a balance here. While it may be a bit of a ball ache (and no one likes aching balls) to merge them all, long term, it may prove more useful, particularly when we add some of the additional functionality around what hubs are shown and the content that fills them

WOW, I just logged in to suggest exactly what you are doing. Great minds think alike. Look forward…

My biggest problem and im don’t think there is a fix to that is mostly languages.
My libraries are only split between languages so that the title if matches in his original languages. Also if i merge them then most movies wont match on there own and i will have to go to it myself every time. Makes no sens. I still want them all to be in the same recently added.

Currently selecting Include in Home screen for a Library enables Recently Added and Continue Watching for that library. Have you considered giving us the ability to choose? I like having CW but don’t really want Recently Added for some libraries, especially the way it is presented now.

We appreciate the feedback! We’re always listening, and while we know we’ll never make everyone happy (if you find a way, please let us know!), we’re striving to improve this experience. Sometimes you’ll see interim steps like this, and it can be hard to see the end goal, but in 2021, we want to start sharing more early with the public as well. Not just related to UI / UX but features and bugs we are tackling. In general our community should hear more from us and be a part of it. :plexheart:

Why don’t you just use the setting at the library level to use the original title regardless of the library language? That should allow you to have them all in one library. It’s an option for movie type libraries. Might become an option for TV type libraries if they update the agent.

Yes, you’ll have to merge everything to one library but then you’ll have one library.

Edit: And I realize that might not have been an option when you setup your server but it is now so that’s why I mentioned it.

Hmm, using the new Plex Movie agent, you should be able to use the original titles. That might be best handled in its own thread though

That is something that may be possible in the future with the customisation options that are coming

Now just take my feedback on collections to the appropriate teams and I’ll be super happy lol.

If i do that then the Title gets translated to the Library Language and the description is not in the original language. Which is my main reason to have multiple libraries.

Enabling the Use Original Title option should use the title in its original language, as noted in the option description: Use the original titles for all items regardless of the library language. You can also select a language for the metadata on that particular item, so you can have the description in your native language, or the original language.

I am having 3 rows of recently added movies now and 2 rows tv show instead of combined into one. Is that working as intended? Because if so that makes it kind of worthless for me. Plexweb seems as broken as appletv hub now.

Haha, that is something we’re aware of, but as with everything, only so much time to do things.

I personally have Collections disabled in my library view, so I just see all the movies or shows, and then go the Collections tab to peruse my collections

OK just saw the new Agent for Movies, but nothing for TV Shows ?

That’s still in development at the moment, but progressing well

OK thanks, at least there is a light :stuck_out_tongue:
