On Deck, Continue Watching & Recently Added

This is how it is on the LG & Xbox app. Just 10 shown for recently added on any library. I know the web app shows more recently added, I said in my post you replied to.

I believe that they may be referring to the change in the ordering on the more page.

I now have neither recently added, on deck, nor continue watching. My home screen has 0 content from my libraries and the recommended sections of my libraries are broken and don’t work. Any of the ways I used to interact with my content 24 hrs ago now doesn’t work.

That sounds unrelated to the change that was made on Plex Web. May I suggest you instead open a new thread, with logs from your client and server.

Curious that it only started after I updated PMS though.

Well, this topic is about a change in Plex Web, not Plex Media Server, so is unrelated.

i just want to make sure you keep getting messages to show just how disappointed a lot of users would be if this was the only option. The way the system works now is perfect. I have multiple libraries based on whether a tv show is regular tv, a cartoon, anime, or a documentary type tv series. Same for movies based on if theyre movies, documentaries, animated movies, anime movies or stand up comedy movies, i even have a christmas section. Collections would do nothing to solve that issue, and 15 rows of recently added things really ruins any benefit this could possibly bring for me.

Ive seen a lot of replies from the team saying we will have more flexibility but no confirmation that you will allow us to simply continue with the old method. It worked perfectly for many of us as it was, and I just had to waste an hour of my morning today dealing with this issue and finding a temporary workaround.

Can you please confirm that we will have an option to simply continue having a merged section for tv shows and a merged section for movies, because as of now that hasnt been made clear to me.

I agree. I HATE the recently added by pinned group. I liked it when we had all the TV, all the Movies, all the Music added in their separate lines, and that was it. MUCH easier to see what was added quickly. Now, it is row after row after row… At least give us the option of the ā€œoldā€ or ā€œnewā€ ways in settings. I’d be cool with that.

Please recombine similar media types on ā€œRecently Added hubs.
This recent change to the Home screen on what I assume is all your clients is genuinely not -helpful at all. I have multiple libraries on my server, like many people, but I have multiple libraries of the same type in some cases.
If you separate your movies and tv shows out, it is very hard and annoying to have to try and remove all the extra recently added movies and tv shows hubs. I have been trying to fix this and get it back to normal on my firestick and it has not been working.
The extra hubs are not deleting and when I try to move a recently added hub up or down, it keeps jumping up and down, even after I exit out of the hub management.
Keeping multiple libraries allowed me to easily segregate content types and control the access for managed users, but this new change only reduces the navigation efficiency for users with access to more than one library of a type (series or movies).
If you want to add an extra hub for every folder, make it optional in the least where you can choose to have it the old way or this new way, or better yet, just get rid of it and go back to the old way, because this ā€œupgradeā€ stinks.

This change seems to be centered around the idea that we aren’t using Plex the way that Plex wants us to. Apparently multiple Movie and TV Show libraries is not what Plex has envisioned for us.
I really hope they at least give us the ability to choose other than removing Recently Added from my libraries.
@DaveBinM did say there was much more to this.

That may be true, but consider, things always look and act great in the testing lab and it’s always different in production. People will always find new and different ways to use products that are best for their situation. Especially for something like PLEX, there really can’t be a ā€œwe aren’t using Plex the way that Plex wants us to. Apparently, multiple Movie and TV Show libraries is not what Plex has envisioned for usā€. We will use it how we see fit, to fit our situation and if enough people are using it that way, then it’s something that should be taken into consideration.

So are we stuck with multiple OD and CW for each library?

I have seperate 4K and standard quality libraries for Movies and TV and my Home Screen now looks like a jumbled mess.

I just want to see what new movies and shows have been added, and where I’m up to, regardless of the quality.

I agree, I have 4 TV and 9 Movie libraries. I’m just paraphasing what @DaveBinM said. He suggested that I use Collections and Labels rather than multiple libraries. I prefer multiple libraries.
If we are forced to have a section for each RA and CW I will remove these options from all but one of each type of library. I don’t really use Recently Added or Continue watching anyway. Not sure about my Users.

I’ve never commented on this forum but I’ve decided to now, since this new recently added implementation is a nuisance. I find it much easier to group things into libraries for sharing purposes and enjoyed the unified list. I don’t see why an option can’t exist to also have a unified list. This was an important feature to me and one I would like to continue to use.

That should definitely not be the case. If you could raise that separately in the appropriate section, it would be much appreciated! :plexheart:

I can’t guarantee that the old method will still be available, as some things are still in flux, and folks are also out now for the holidays, but we will be listening to user feedback and trying to find the best solution that works for the vast majority of users. No matter what we do, we can never please everyone, so please bear with us as we iterate on this.

I absolutely agree that if enough people are using something a certain way, it should drive decisions. I’ve always been a fan of making sure that data backs up decisions (not just in this job, but in every one I’ve had). The vast majority of users only have one of each kind of library, and once you get beyond 2 of the same library type, the numbers fall away very quickly. As I’ve said before, if people are using multiple libraries of the same type, we’re keen to understand why, and see how we can improve the experience so people don’t feel the need to do that. :plexheart:

@Dan_Bev There should only be one OD & CW per server. However, in future, there should just be the one OD/CW hub (when they’re unified again), that will cover all content you have access to. Your server, a friend’s server, or from some of the free content we provide. This will also include an option to remove an item from the hub too, so you can remove it if you don’t want it there.

I’m confused.

I have seperate 4k and non-4k libraries for TV and Movies (to minimise 4k transcoding) and still have multiple OD/CW appearing on my home screen.

So should I only have one based on your most recent post?
