On downloaded files, Plex is naming episodes and sometimes movies with the Title Metatag even if the Match is found and used. Help

If I donwload something, unfortunately the title metatag is filled in with spam. And Plex is smart enough to find the correct match and pull the poster and all that, but it STILL keeps the names of episodes (and sometimes the movie title) with the garbage spam. I go in and manually remove the Title metatag but it’s very time consuming. How can I avoid this please?

Move your local assets agent down, plex is reading the information from the file.

The above response applies if your library is configured to use a legacy agent.
If you’re using the Plex Movie agent, you can configure the library itself to ignore embedded metadata:

  1. Edit the library (⋮ > Manage Library´ > Edit…`)
  2. Navigate to the Advanced tab
  3. Disable/uncheck Prefer local metadata

This change will primarily apply to future additions. You’ll need to refresh the library metadata for it to effect your library’s existing content.
