I’m having an issue with both the plex, and plex beta app to where I have a program recording, but I can’t start playing it until the program completes recording?? Am I missing something? I would like to start my football games and other shows on delay to skip commercials.
I also can’t figure out how to get the Plex Server to record DVR programs to a specific folder. It appears to just go in my Library folders where I don’t have enough space for DVR programming…
I can’t help with the first problem but about how to record DVR programs to s specific folder, you should be able to save the recording to any folder that is included in a TV Library… In my case I have multiple TV libraries, one for normal TV series, one for the kids TV shows, and one DVR… Obviously normal series like NCIS, The Bachelor, or Hawaii 5-0 go into the normal TV library… Saturday morning cartoons go into the kids TV library… The DVR library I use for one off shows and specials not associated with regular series… When you set up a recording, if you have multiple TV libraries you should be able to choose which library the recording will be saved…
Ok, I got the 2nd DVR library working, thanks! I still don’t see the option to start playing a show that is currently recording… I MUST be missing this right?
Don’t know, never tried to start watching a show that was currently being recorded…
I think I tested this previously, to watch a currently recording show, you go into the guide, ‘play’ the show that is recording, then ‘rewind’ to the point you want to start watching.
I may be wrong though, its been awhile since I think I checked this.
I too normally do not watch shows while they are recording, but I can understand why you would want to.
Ok, I will try that, but this is a deal breaker for sports… I may be asking for a refund, and going back to WMC. So sad, I’ve been waiting for 2-3 years to move over to plex DVR 
I assume it’s a deal breaker for sports with the assumption it will start live and you have to rewind, which should note be the case. If you play a channel that’s recording, it should prompt with two options.
I have confirmed this works here. Please let us know if this is not the case.
note: It’s possible the guide will show a recording indicator for a channel that isn’t technically being recorded (usually SD vs HD of the same channel), in which case it will start that channel live. e.g. channel 13 may show recording, when channel 113 is actually recording. If you play channel 13, it will start live. If you play channel 113, it should prompt with the options stated above.
I can’t speak for the original poster, but it doesn’t work at all for me.
I just tried to start watching a sports programme that’s being recorded, and which is broadcast on both SD & HD versions of a channel. In both the main and preview channels I tried starting the programme on both the SD & HD channels from the ‘on now’ channels list - and in all 4 cases I didn’t get any choice to “watch from start”, and having started the programme at the current live position there is no ability to rewind back to any earlier position.
Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but as far as I can see there is simply no such timeshift capability available at all for roku!?

I wasted $100 on Plex premium… Absolutely junk DVR. Used to be a big Plex fan… After they refused to refund my $$. I’ll never use these scumbag’s software again. Plex team… Gfys.
For what it’s worth, I have the PLEX app running on the ROKU and I can typically watch a show from the beginning after it’s started as long as it’s being recorded. If you are recording it, go to Live TV on the PLEX ROKU app, go to guide, find your show and choose it. It will typically ask you if you want to watch the show from the beginning at that point. Sometimes an error is returned and if I try launching the channel again it works, but other times it wont. For me it may not work a few times a month, but the recording will be there shortly after the show ends.
There is currently an issue with PLEX and the guide which they are working on, but to my knowledge that didn’t exist when you originally posted this.
