One Box to Rule Them All?

I will start with saying I’ve been using my Apple TV 4 with Plex for quite a while now and it works well. No issues at all, great job Plex Team. That being said I want to stop using my Apple TV because I also want to be able to use Amazon Prime Video and Kodi.

Is there a media player out there which fully supports surround sound (AC3, 5.1, DTS) and 1080p (or better 4k) in Plex while working with Kodi and Amazon as well?

I’m thinking it must be something Android probably since Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV won’t, and Roku won’t natively. Nvidia Shield or possibly one of the Chinese android systems. Anyone tried and found the one player to do it all?

Nvidia shield

An Odroid-C2 running Kodi with the newly released Plex for Kodi add-on. And I believe there is an add-on for Amazon Prime as well

I believe anything Android should work as long as sound is not an issue. The Android sub-forum was a bit hit or miss on the sound side of things. I’ve got a cheep Android T95 AMlogic based unit and it works fine for stereo, but it won’t do surround.

The Nvidia Shield would work, but starting at $200 it’s a bit pricey when compared to the Chinese Android boxes. If it works then it works though.
