Only partial TV shows / series appearing on PLEX

I am new to PLEX / Synology (NAS), first time ever…
Using Synology DS918+, iOS (iPhone & Apple TV( & Android devices (Samsung Phone & Tab) with PLEX app installed.

I have few content which are all loaded onto my Synology (TV Shows) which appears ok on the PLEX and are being streamed, no issues.
However, there are many shows I have added onto Synology which is NOT appearing at all on any of the PLEX devices.

I tried all manual sync options, rename it, deleted and re-created folder, restarted my Synology, etc. but no luck.

I am non technical person, if anyone can guide me through any other basic troubleshoot is much appreciated.

by the way… I am loving this whole PLEX thing

Primary reason for Shows not to be recognized is file naming and folder structure.
Did you follow the naming schema and structures proposed by Plex? Plex will be especially picky when it comes to tv shows…

yes I did follow these steps / suggestion, but no luck

Can you please share the specific details… e.g. a screenshot?

here is a screenshot from my Synology folder:

Plex very much depends on the folder structures to meet certain criteria.
In this setup, you’ll need to make sure the Plex library is looking at the Hindi folder – not the Series folder.

Edit: And super important… do not store your media in the Plex share. That’s for Plex’ internal data only!!

Thank you for your guidance, much appreciated…
simple step / instructions have resolved the issue I was facing. Thank you very much.

Is there a way to get PLEX Life Pass to get at discounted rates?

I shared my media library (TV Shows & Movies) with a friend… he can access by creating a new account on plex, accepted my invitation and he is able to see libraries which I shared with him.

however, when he is trying to access any movies / TV shows, at first he get this pop up message, he click ‘Not Now’ and video starts. After 1 or 2 min. it stops

Do you know what is wrong here? Anything I should make / adjust here?

and does that mean he has to pay one time fee to remove the restriction / limited playback?

Do we know the differences between these 2 videos being played now? both by remote users?
one says Direct Play vs Transcode?

Is all setup appears to be ok? Anything I as Synology NAS Admin to be aware or adjust?

Apologies for multiple questions at the same time, as I am still learning a lot.

Yes. The mobile apps of Plex are not free. They’ll be unlocked if you’re having a Plex Pass membership (which also contains other stuff) or by doing the one-time activation. Keep in mind the one-time activation applies to the respective app store – so activating Plex on iOS will not automatically activate it on Android!

Transcoding can have a number of reasons…

  • the client does not support a certain format
  • the user has set a video/playback quality in their client that’s below the original video quality
  • subtitles… (either because the client cannot deal with the format or because the client is configured to burn those subtitles into the video)

If transcoding gives your server some headaches… best talk to your users and ask them to go for direct playback whenever possible.

Hi There,

As per earlier discussions / feedback, I have changed the location of my media away from PLEX folder into recommended folder structure below:

However, under Hindi (TV Shows) I have 30 series. However, when I see under PLEX, I only see 21. I noticed all recently updated / changed series are not updated…

I have done force update / sync my library but still end with the same results.

I have attached Plex Media Server log files as well. Let me know in case if you need further information here.

I appreciate your guidance to better understand if anything wrong I am still doing?

sharing PLEX logs ZIP file for your reference:
Plex Media Server Logs_2020-07-20_13-30-58.zip (5.1 MB)

I have disabled Verbose logging…

Check your file/folder permissions - confirmed, it has right access as per below:

On the Permission tab, highlight the Plex user and click on Edit/View and make sure the appropriate permissions are selected, then click on OK.

With regards to DNS Rebinding protection
honestly I don’t have technical knowledge to do what you are asking here (i.e., allow the *plex.direct domin to pass through).

ISP name - Telstra
Country - Australia
ISP Router - Arcadyan
Router model - LH1000

Any other guide / help you can offer me to ensure no issues with DNS?
