So I have manged to get my Plex DSM 7 working on my Synology DS920+, and have been uploading Movies and TV Shows successfully over the weekend with the metadata enabling the Posters to be found by following the correct file naming convention, however I seem to be having problem with one particular mkv file that I created based on the Clarkson Hot Metal DVD that I own.
The file can be seen within the folder that I created but it doesn’t seem to want to show in Plex, and when I view the folder it just comes up as “no content”
I have check imdb and TheTVDB.com to make sure that I am naming the file correctly which I am, however still no joy.
I have checked the permissions and all of the media folders have read/write access from the Plex Media Server Internal user.
The folder that my Plex media sits in on my NAS is called TV Shows, and like I said Plex is able to see all of the other content which sits in subfolders named based on the TV Show titles, but for what ever reason this particular folder is visible on Plex, but is just not seeing the content in there.
All of the Everybody Hates Chris episodes are visible in Plex, its only the “Clarkson Hot Metal” which is not visible and showing as no content. If that’s the one that you are referring to as not named like a TV show, then please advise whether it should be moved into the movies section in that case ?
That means it might give you trouble in the future, or on different server platforms, or when you’re trying to add local extras or external subtitles.
Anything that works now, despite is not named like documented, is a happy accident. But don’t rely on it working for all times, under all circumstances.
