Is it possible to configure plex that it only selects subtitles in the configured language (dutch in my case)?
I have some media files that don’t contain dutch subtitles but do contain english subtitles for hearing impaired. So when there are no dutch subtitles plex preferes those but I don’t want that.
I want dutch subtitles, like I configured, or no subtitles at all.
What are your track selection settings in your user profile?
Does the video in question have properly tagged (i.e. with language info) audio and subtitle tracks? Plex XML info
This are my settings:
And one of the video files:
So this looks all correct to me, except that plex takes the English subtitles instead of none (because dutch is not available for the file)
Did you touch the audio / sub selection of that episode already? The auto selection works only if untouched. Plex Dance may be necessary. But don’t expect too much. The auto selection is a misery once you are dealing with multiple languages. Maybe trial & error will give you the desired behaviour. I, for one, have given it up.
No I haven’t touched that one yet, so it’s untouched. The audio is selected correctly (english is the only language available) but the subtitles are also in English and I just want them to be off when dutch isn’t available.
Ok I see. I just took another look into my settings and I guess it is not possible.
That’s unfortunate… I guess I will just delete the subtitles I don’t want from the mkv witk MKVtoolnix.
Sounds like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut
I already had some discussions on this topic here in the forum but there are probably too few people with multilingual content. It therefore simply does not get priority.
