Open Plex Websockets for Non-Admin

A Plex Media Server’s websocket interface/API only works for the server’s administrator user. Managed users are not allowed to open a websocket connection.

This prevents PlexKodiConnect from instantly updating the play-state/resume-point of a half-played video for all managed users.

This would be a great feature to have.

So let me get this right… (stupid brain not getting this. )

You will only allow the Owner (admin) user to allow to login here and be able to open a websocket connection or?

The reason I ask is, I got a profil managed by the owner (admin) of the server, a kids profil where I only have put the cartoon folders to this user, will that not work here and not be able to login? Or have total misunderstod this?

Any login works fine for any user.

BUT: the PlexKodiConnect background sync process does not work for your Kids profile. Example: If they start watching a cartoon in the living room, they won’t be able to resume this cartoon immediately using another Plex client in the kitchen

Please do hit the like button in my first post for your kids profiting of instantaneous play-state updates

You just got a dobbelt like on that… Would be a great idea

Would this also allow channel activity, now playing and progress, from non admin users to be viewed under the server activities or in PlexPy?

I assume this is still a no go? This is the only thing that is preventing me from using PKC.

This still appears to be an issue. I don’t seem to have play state activity when using a managed user account on PKC.

Would this fix the alexa skill not being able to resume movies when using plexkodiconnect?
