The live-version works great, but only with ethernet.
When I try to exit PHT I've got the same loop like mentioned before. Plex disappears and comes back again. So I can't configure WLAN.
I've tried to install it on a clean HD, but the first boot after install i got an error "Error in prepare_sysroot: mount_common: Could not mount /dev/System"
The original ION Version 3.2.3 works great on my Zotac.
Any Idea how to install it ?
The live-version is just what I'm looking for !!!
Great work !!
Edit:
Ok, I've managed to install it on my hd.
In your install-routine the systemdrive is created with only 256MB.
I've grown the partition an made a custom install.
Now it boots from hd.
But ist there a way to configure WLAN ?
tschensie,
How did you manage to grow the partition and do a custom install?
@Ziggimon
Will it be possible to use boblightd addon in the PlexElec install?

Thank you in advance,

No XBMC addons will be supported. This is based on PLEX HT so only things that work with PLEX HT will work. Unless you hack the PLEX code and add XBMC addons and recompile "PlexELEC" to use that code and redo the skin to have XBMC addons. Quite a daunting task IMHO.

@jillesv First I tried the simple install. After getting the error I booted the PC with partedmagic. In the partition editor I saw the systemdrive only has 256mb, so I 've grown it with the partition tool, reboot with openelec stick an choose custom install.
@Mark Thx for reply. The version works like charm on my Zoatc with my plex server. , And when WLAN works the HTPC can do it's job in the children's room :)

I did something like this also. I bumped it to 2G cause I had plenty of space, but it looks like it just needs to be a little bit larger to hold the system image, 300M might well do it.
I have been reading the whole thread and i would like to give a try to this build on my MacMini running as of now under Ubuntu.
I just would like to recap what I have understood so that I can make sure i'll do things properly as this might also be helpful to people willing to try this
With these two steps, should i be able to install it and give it a try ?
Regarding the installation on a hard drive. My harddrive already has MacOS / Ubuntu and i'm using Redit for multiple boots, Does the partition on which i wanna install OE/Plex has to be created before or will the installer create it ?
Just tried OpenELEC-Plex-ION.x86_64-3.2.3-test2.tar.gz
Are we suppose to create the USB install using the bat file?
Using that it came up in the installer and everything seemed to work fine but when I rebooted I got an error about mounting /dev/SYSTEM then dropped to shell

For some reason, not yet understood, it seems as users who install the ION and Generic build don't seem to get a bootable install, live version works so the kernel and system files are intact. I checked the install scripts src and didn't find anything obviously wrong.
I hope to figure out why this is, but I don't own a IOn system and my Intel i5 system work just fine. So if anyone has a good idea as to where the error actually lies, either the system drive being referenced wrong or it's labeled wrong when installing. Any help is welcome.

If you want to help out just let me know, I've been trying to figure out what Dale did to make the OE settings menu run on Rasplex so I can get that running on this PHT version of OpenELEC.
I duly noted the test version and will try it out.
I can help with some testing, i'll try to install that tonite on my macmini where i already have 3 versions running (OSX, ubuntu and Openelec then). As far as OE for rasplex, i can try to help, but for rasplex i worked mainly on PHT client itself to get things fixed. I didn't mess really with OE setup, so not sure if i can be really helpful but i can try.
If you have specific issues with OE, i'd suggest to check directly with Dale or Andreas. Now that Dale is settled back again he's going to come back into some serious rework on OE for rasplex. I'm sure you could share some issues on this. They probably have more nowledge that I do on OE builds :)
Anyways, i'll test you latest build on my mini tonite and come bac to you :)
BTW if there is any campfire for OE/Plex feel free to PM me the info :)

Hmm, I think it might be related to partition sizing.
I was looking through openelec forums and one question was is /flash is full when this error pops up
I'm guessing you're using the default partitions sizes for the installation scripts but your SYSTEM file is almost double the one openelec uses for XBMC
If you bump the size of /dev/sda1 which is mounted under /flash maybe it'll clear this up?
The xbmc build has roughly 50% free under /flash while it's 100% for plex

Just tried a live boot on a Gigabyte Brix i3, 8 gig of ram and a 64 msata drive with a Logitech K400 keyboard. Got audio working by changing default device then choosing HDMI. Everything works except for my Harmony which uses an HP receiver from and old Media Center PC.

Other than that, works well.
If you configure a keyboard.xml like you want and use MCE remote in Harmony (not MCE keyboard, not supported in OE when using it in Harmony) it should work.
I'll be able to test way more when I'll be able to install it on the ssd (live isn't good enough for me to test so I rather wait)
I think I got a key part of the innards extended to support the settings menu with help from the rasplex guys (Dale). Took me a while to figure out and get working.
So we just need to test an see things start and run right. If successful it will be a nice big step in getting it to a working state.
I just tested your latest version and did boot up my Atom330 ION board with it and it's looking very good and does connect out of the box. However I'm having some performance issues compared to my current PleXbmc client, since most 1080p stream do stutter and wouldn't run smoothly. Its okay when playing 720p content (although not always)... on the user hand the PleXbmc client does play even high bitrate 1080p stuff surprisingly smoothly.

Any ideas what could be the problem?
The hw acceleration issues have been down prioritized over the OE settings menu, what build did you try? 3.2.4?
I'm currently pushing out the latest sync from upstream and added OE settings menu and other small tweaks.
Thanks for the work it's a dream who become a reality :)
For my experience i use a haswell NUC plateform. If i activate VDPAU or VAAPI i can't read HD files. But if i don't use this option all work well.
I have just a little problem but very annoying when i launch plexelec i have the cursor of the mouse on the screen. And without a keyboard the only way to make disapear the cursor is change the resolution of the screen. It's not very practice :)
How about adding PMS to the image so I can also play files from my USB drive or streaming via DLNA (my PMS server is down due to a crashed hard drive).
