OpenELEC presentation for PLEX?

EDIT: I figured it out. I had to perform some SSH wizardry.  I still have no idea why I needed to use SSH to do this and why it's not in the settings  but hey, it works.

would be nice of you to tell us exactly what you did

thanks

Yes it will run smoothly.. you can go for a Chromebox if you want lower price.

I have been playing with PHT on VM with Ubuntu.  I have a Rasplex up and running but want to move up to a more powerful system.  I see that OE and PHT are running great on NUCs but I am considering less expensive hardware from Gigabyte.  Has anyone here tried OE + PHT on the following hardware?

Gigabyte Intel Celeron N2807 Mini PC Barebones GB-BXBT-2807

2 GB of RAM

16 GB SATA III SSD

OE

PHT

FLIRC USB Dongle

Any help, guidance, comments would be appreciated.  I'm trying to build as many as 5 of these boxes so I really want to keep the cost down and I find the NUCs a bit pricey.

Thanks in advance,

Keith

Can i update your OE distrib to 4.0 without losing PHT ?

The normal update procedure for OE is (if auto update works) is to pull the SYSTEM and KERNEL file down to the /storage drive. This folder is also shared over the network. And then reboot OE.,similar method can be done manually as shown here: http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php/Updating_OpenELEC

Auto updating is planned. And half implemented.

No. The Plex Home Theater binaries live in the SYSTEM file, so replacing that is like reinstalling your OS. You will have to hand build it or wait for me to get something working on 4.x or newer.

Anyone else’s hanging on the open elec logo and not going anywhere further?

Can you provide more info. What version and what platform?

NUC 2820. Your latest oE build of generic onto SSD. Even saying no to GPT same thing.

Tried updating first by copying the 4 files over. Stuck on this. Heading back to 1.2.1 as anything newer than that does the same thing

Also. Please fix boot menu resolution. It’s undisplayable on my big telly. Incompatible resolution. Have to use old telly to see it.

BTW, for NUC, install Intel build, not generic.

Great. Even old faithful [1.2.1] is doing it too. But extra text

Any ideas?

Could you try a clean install? I have the very same setup as you with 2820 bay trail NUC and do not see your boot issue. Making it reasonably (not impossible) hard to debug.

Backup config files you may have installed just in case. And on that note did you do anything custom to it like custom config files?

Nothing custom and done enough re-installs through option 1 on oE install to totally obliterate anything I had before.

Latest oE XBMC boots fine too.

Bloody annoying!

have you tried to use the Intel build? In this generation of OE, Generic isn't the one for NUC...

Yeah, next gen OE, combined all those in generic but in this one, Nuc needs intel build specifically.

Glad it helped.

Sfnetwork - my new bessie mate.

That's pretty much what I released :) check the OE version number.

I may release a new version with some fixes soon, but I don't think there are many fixes in the other release that I didn't get included.

oh man, its a bad couple days for me. I'll just keep me mouth shut for a bit  cheers for the build. no complaints here!

Quick question: anyone know if it is possible to use Kodi video addons with this build?

Sorry for bumping this thread.

I have been trying to get Plex for OpenELEC to run on my 1st gen ATV,

ran the intel bundle installer to write on the usb with success, but the ATV won't boot from it...

I know it's possible to run the standard OpenELEC, would love to have the PHT running on it.

Mark Walker, do you have any idea to get it up and running?
