I tried out OpenPHT 1.7.1 embedded on HP Microserver with was previously running OpenPHT 1.6.1 on Win10.
Wow. I finally thought my years long search for a hassle free media player was over.
The interface is so fast with SSD and the embedded version.
I quickly went through various file types but unfortunately came across some issues, the main one being that I cannot get HD Audio formats working.
If I use fixed, I get PCM audio with the correct number of channels.
If I use DTS 8 channel decoding and I play a DTS Master Audio 7.1 file I get PCM sound and all channels.
However, I want simple passthru, with that enabled I get DD and DTS fine, so passthru is working, but no matter what I do I can’t get the HD Audio formats to passthru.
Has anyone else tried this version of the software? Is it a bug or just me?
I just tried downgrading to 1.6 and get the same issue.
Interestingly I have now noticed that when watching a DTS HD MA 7.1 track when you have passthru enabled and also have DTS and DTS HD MA checked as passthru options, you get no sound, but uncheck just the DTS option and now you get PCM 7.1 ?
I have none of your issues, although I am on an Odroid C2, but HD passthrough definitely works with OPHT 1.7.1 and 1.6.2, it must be some issue with your setup.
So after many, many hours I will never get back, of trying every conceivable setup option to try and get passthru working using the generic X86 version I had to give up. As per the first post, no matter what I tried I could only ever get PCM and not passthru.
So I was forced to go back to Win10. Fresh install of Win 10, let windows find the driver for my video card, install OpenPHT 1.71 x86 windows version, set the audio to WASPI and enabled passthru - everything working perfectly. All audio passthru as it should.
Is there a list anywhere of which video cards are compatible with libreelec? I can’t seem to find such a list.
I would really love to use OpenPHT embedded on my x86 hardware because it was so fluid and fast even on this low spec hardware but can’t be without proper passthru.
