I had this issue also with the previous version of PHT and someone suggested to use openPHT and I am having the same problem
I do not have this issue though with the windows store plex app
Every time I connect the laptop to the TV and start up plex home theatre, the sound automatically defaults audio out through the laptop even though on the windows desktop the playback device is set to the TV audio. The only way I can get it to play through the TV via plex home theatre is to disable the laptop’s playing device in device manager… then plex plays through the TV Using HDMI…
I plug my laptop to my tv using a HMDI to mini display port cable such as the one below. Mind you use this cable to for when project the Windows store plex app to the TV and the sound automatically plays through the TV like it should
Everything else defaults the audio straight to the TV, except… Plex home theatre application
In my windows sound properties the TV sound is set to default when I plug the hdmi cable in, but the sound still doesnt play through the tv with thex plex theatre app
I need to go to device manager and disable my laptop’s sound completely for it to work which is ridiculous
Please help

Is OpenPHT set to play through HDMI in: Preferences > System (gear) > Audio output > Audio output device ?
Hi thanks for replying mate
No it was not at the time I had it connected to the TV. Changing this setting manually worked and sound played through the TV
but I thought this setting would change automatically once connecting the laptop to the TV? I hope I dont need to do this manually every time
Going to be a manual change in OpenPHT settings each time. This setting in OpenPHT is not automatic as far as I can tell. Please mark this thread as answered so future users can find help easier.
