Optimal Folder Format For Multiple Locations

Server Version#: 3.77.4 (I think)
Player Version#:

I have 6 cloud storage locations that all have 1/6th of the content. I have mapped the drives to Windows and created a link to a windows library which has proven very effective for consolidating my “Movies” folder.

Example
Pointed to Library C:\Users\Username\Media\Movies
Plex sees the folder as:
C:\Users\Username\Media\Movies\Cloud Server 1 Movies
C:\Users\Username\Media\Movies\Cloud Server 2 Movies
C:\Users\Username\Media\Movies\Cloud Server 3 Movies
etc…
and in this format, the movies are added successfully from each of the 6 folders and generates 1 movies location to plex.

However, this doesn’t work when I try to do the same thing to my TV Series. Following the same structure, I believe its because there are too many layers of folders. Plex Calls the “Cloud Server 1 TV Series” folder A TV Show and so it thinks I only have 6 Shows with hundreds of episodes in each.

I am interested in fixing this and am open to any and all options for workarounds that could help.

How are the shows organized on the drive? They should all be in series/seasons

its basically

C:\Users\Username\Media\TV Series
in that folder is
C:\Users\Username\Media\Movies\Cloud Server 1 TV Series\Show Name Folder\Show Season
C:\Users\Username\Media\Movies\Cloud Server 2 TV Series\Show Name Folder\Show Season
C:\Users\Username\Media\Movies\Cloud Server 3 TV Series\Show Name Folder\Show Season\

I am aware that this does not follow the structure intended because I have 6 locations that I am looking to consolidate into 1 “TV Series” folder in plex. This is why I am reaching out to the community for a solution. Is there anything in plex or windows that I can make this work?

You can point a library at multiple folders. That’s not an issue at all.

I encountered a significant issue with adding a 2nd location to the TV library that then led to the recordings stating they could not find the destination. To fix I had to setup a new TV library with a single location, delete all scheduled recordings and add them back one by one. Still looking for a simple way to archive recordings like what is described in this thread.

Having 6 folders of tv shows makes it difficult to see what to watch because it’s in 6 locations. I was hoping to find a way that Plex will understand the one location like I did successfully with the movies.

If I did what you suggested I would have 12 folders (movies and tv x 6 locations) added to my Plex and would have to randomly select folders to decide what to watch.

Let me know your thoughts.

In not sure we have exactly the same problem but the same solution could be helpful. I look forward to seeing what people can recommend.

In any library section, you can multiple folders for that library. They will show up as a single entity in Plex, even though the files are stored in multiple locations. This is the way to do it.

In my example here I only have one folder because my media is in one place. But if you select “Browse For Media Folder” you can add your other locations. It’s easy really.

If this doesn’t solve your issue, then we are talking about different things.
