Is there a way (even if unsupported) to modify the h.264 level that “Optimize for TV” and “Optimize for Mobile” use? It appears as though “Optimize for mobile” was creating a file at 5.1. One of my tablets can do 4.2, and my Fire TV Stick can only use 5.0, so a transcode gets forced, even at “Optimize for Mobile” level.
I’m recording TV from an HDHomeRun (a CONNECT and an EXTEND…and I’m not happy with the output from the EXTEND’s h.264 encoding so I’m forcing MPEG2).
My server is a Synology DS-218+, and I get stalls when transcoding from MPEG2 to something else (when I do an optimize, the speed at which runs is 0.7). So what I’m trying to do is run “Optimize for Mobile” (720p @ 4Mpbs is sufficient for me) on everything, but, since the output is at level 5.1, everything STILL gets transcoded on playback. I’d prefer not to adjust the client level.
