I generally use “Original” profile for optimisations, as all of my videos will be played on/from the local network. Generally I want to maintain bitrates, but ensure the videos will DirectPlay on all my devices.
Some titles in my library are encoded using the “high” profile. The optimized versions of these also use the high profile, which unfortunately means they will not play on some of my devices (e.g. Android) without real-time transcoding. My proposal is to have an optimisation option which will maximise compatibility but keep the original bitrates where possible.
