Option for "Local Media Assets" missing in Plex Premium Library!

Hi all

I set up my Music Library with the Agent “Plex Premium Music”. I also enabled “Use embedded tags” for that library. In the agent settings I put “Local Media Assets” in top of the list and “Plex Premium Music” was second. That worked correct for a very long time. The reason why i did it this way is because I want Plex to use my local album artwork (folder.jpg) in the album folder. But also want to combine that local stuff with the Artist pictures and description from Plex Premium.

This week I added some new stuff and Plex wasn’t able to detect my local artwork. Even the folder.jpg is there! I checked the agent settings and was surprised. “Local Media Assets” isn’t there anymore!!

Is this a Bug? Or have I mistakenly change a setting? Do you have the same problem in your library (not just music, in all Premium agents that option is missing)?

You can find two pictures below. One like it was and one like it is now.

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488
Player Version#: Web

Old:

New:

Uninstall PMS (the package)
restart the system
Install PMS again.

Your Library will be intact and the installer will find it.

Thanks! I tried exactly how you described but it didn’t work! (Uninstall, restart, install)

Still the same problem…
BUT I discovered that “Plex Movie” or “The Movie Database” still has “Local Media Assets” on top! Just “Plex Premium Music” and “Last.fm” doesn’t support “Local Media Assets” anymore (And all the agents for series, but I don’t know if they ever where there…).

Anyone who has the same issue?
I’m running PMS on a WD MyCloud Mirror Gen2 with Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488.

Can I delete preferences without killing all my librarys and its metadata?

Music does not have a Local Media Assets agent. Premium Music uses an entirely different mechanism (Gracenote) to provide all the artwork and information.

Hi Chuck

The Local Media Assets are there again!!
After the reinstall (described above) didn’t work I guessed the problem could occur because I’m using a 3th party plugin for audiobooks. The plugin made another agent available besides last.fm and Premium Music. I deinstalled the plugin and did another reinstall of the Plex package. Also I did a few restarts of the server and suddenly the option for Local Media Assets are back!

Here a screenshots how it looks now (and I wanted it to look):

I give up :man_shrugging:

LOL

THIS IS SO ANNOYING!! :rage:

Now, the Local Media Assets disappeared again! As you can see in the screenshot above from last week they WERE there. But it looks like in the screenshot below today! They are gone…

What happened since then? I restarted the the server but didn’t touch the settings at all…

ANYONE experiencing the same issue??

Hi Chuck

Would it help if i post logs from the server? What kind of logs would be helpful in this case?
This one could be interesting… What is the “Framework.bundle”?

com.plexapp.agents.localmedia.log (6.5 KB)

Any news on this?

My own album covers are still not detected because the agent is missing!

Would be nice if someone can help…

I have nothing to report but I have also been working full time on the nVidia GPU (which is now solved and has been handed to QA)
