+1, annoying that new users need to be “trained” to not use recommended to actually see the libraries.
+1 Please remove it or make it optional
+1 for the request

long time plex user, but i just reinstalled on a new system and was previously using one of the older iterations of the web app… honestly, the recommended tab is disgusting. plex is a media library not a content provider that should decide what i want to watch.
i could live with the trying to push your own content (though barely), but starting to decide what and how i need to watch my media?
jellyfin already had my attention as a possible replacement for plex, but i really hope you will stop destroying barkley’s legacy like this!
+1000 for me! I have an elderly person who struggles to remember to turn off recommended to be able to use the library… Pain!
Please remove the recommended tab in players! It is showing inappropriate content! My children do not need to see naked people!
Agreed. From the user’s POV, it is absurd to have a third party (Plex) make recommendations from their own media and in fact, it comes across as rather presumptuous on the part of Plex. I figure I’m not unlike other users in that I use Plex to manage my media, this is different than something like Netflix -the user expects Netflix to manage Netflix’s media and therefore the user is not surprised by recommendations -even if Netflix tends to recommend more of the same.
The other issue is that the recommendation ends up being another step in between the user and their media. Anything that gets in the way is experienced as an annoyance rather than seen as a feature.
Also, “Recommended” doesn’t seem to be based on a meaningful algorithm; its just the user’s own library, just not all of it.
Let us disable Recommended view for all of our home users.
For the love of God.
Please.
I’m sorry, an “Option to remove “Recommended” tab in players” will not happen. I’m closing this to give your votes back.
