Optional sync of content over outside home

Hi Talented Plex Developers!

I am becoming a real fan of PlexSync, and have noticed that there is only one thing that really bugs me with it  :)

I live in a part of the world where broadband connections is not great (download and upload), and so for me syncing of the content (which is a lot of data) is only meaningful when at home.

So what i would live is to have an option to sync media only at home (actual content files).

The rest of the metadata (including up to which point did I watch) is still very much something i would like to sync outside of my home as data may not be up to date. Today metadata and content are inseparable, and when syncing the meta data it automatically starts downloading medias as well.

=> Making media sync only from LAN as an option would be fantastic!

Views?

Thanks a lot

In the iOS client go to Settings-->Sync-->Use Mobile Data and turn it off...

However if you connect to WiFI from your device out side your home it may try and sync there.

Thanks - I could figure that much however this is not what I was hoping for

I am hopeful that the Android/iOS apps would allow sync media locally only (I.e. my home only), the rest can be synced outside. Today you:

1. Enable the use of mobile data - this means activating  the use of the your mobile connection to do sync (i.e. not wifi), including both metadata and media

2. Disable the use of mobile data - this means syncing (both metadata and media) from any wifi connection, irrespective of if you are at home or not

It would be great to also have an extra option to allow media download (I.e. syncing of actual media files) only when on local network with Plex Server

Extra thoughts?

Thanks!

Steeve

2022 clean-up: implemented (clients support option to use mobile data (or not) for sync).
