The new music scanner has enough problems dealing with music without pegging the CPU and shutting the server down. Perhaps we need an “Other Audio” library like we have other video? Just show what is in the folders. Stuff like teaching company, modern scholar, and the eternally requested and ever ignored audio book type stuff could go there and bypass the entire scanning process. How about it? Cause right now my server just doesn’t want to behave anymore.
We need two options on this new music scanner:
- turn off the AcousticID analysis (Plex currently does this for all files, even if there’s no need for online metadata)
- turn off all online media matching (last.fm, allmusic, musicbrainz)
Absolutely. Sounds great. It wouldn’t be that hard to pull off since it really just needs to list what is there.
