So I am coming from Emby as they dont support my Hauppauge tuner in Linux Mint which I recently changed to from windows 10. I was tired of all the Windows bloatware hogging precious resources i need for my server so I made a bootable drive and installed Mint.
That was a bit of a process never doing it before.
I went ahead and skipped adding my media folders because of presumed permission issues letting Plex inside my external drive which holds the Video, TV Shows, and Pictures folders.
I got the tuner to work after finding some documentation on how to actually get it installed and did the same for the Plex server itself. Everything is good as far as I know except I cant figure out how to give Linux permission to access the inside of my external drive.
I went to its option page and created a share and made all the options read and right for the drive. The read write permissions after I select all of them and hit apply go back to grey like they arent active like a didnt set them. Maybe this is normal behavior. Being new I have no idea.
I cannot figure out why when I point plex to my external hardrive to set up my movies folder it wont let me inside the drive to point it to my video folder. Ive been through some many resources at this point, frankly Im just confused. Id imagine its a permission issue Ive overlooked.
I could really use a helping hand. Whether its a link, or someone who has been though this that knows. It would be greatly appreciated.
Latest version of Linux Mint edition
Latest Plex server
I did sudo apt update and sudo apt-get update and all is good.
