Panasonic Smart TV app support

Please reconsider support for Panasonic Smart TV app.

Panasonic TV’s are extremely popular outside of the US and whilst the version of the Plex player available on Panasonic was outdated, users loved the simplicity and convenience.

Many users are not interested in new features being pushed such as live TV etc.
They simply want to be able to stream their media and they are now unable to do this without having to purchase extra devices, which is a backwards step.

The forums are currently littered with complaints from so many disappointed Plex users who are now unable to use their Panasonic Smart TV app.

Please reconsider support for your loyal and disappointed Panasonic Smart TV users.

Users who are interested in the new features being pushed can purchase a seperate device to be able to enjoy those.

Hi zmcwest,
Last night I was able to get my Panasonic TV app working again.
I installed the latest version ( 1.20.3.3483) onto my Synology NAS media server. Then uninstalled & installed the Panasonic Plex app on the TV. When I accessed the app, it came up with the same cannot connect screen but this time it allowed me to use the sign in button. Once I selected this, it signed on automatically but asked me to link the device again with the code displayed. Once I entered the code into the plex.tv/link page, the app started working again. So far, no further issues.
Cheers

Hi brduell_bigpond_com,

Thank you for letting me know - glad you were able to get it working.

Unfortunately this didn’t work for me.
The ‘Sign In’ option is still not selectable.

It would be appreciated if Plex staff can advise why this would work for some users and help others to get past the ‘Plex is not reachable’ screen on their Panasonic Smart TV app.

Mine had stopped working (for about 2 weeks) although I know people with the same OS as mine and they’d been unaffected.

I’ve tried it almost every day since the outage with no joy, however last night to my surprise it worked absolutely fine.

I can only assume with the inconsistencies that this was a bug and not the fact the app authentication was out of date. Whatever it was, I’m just glad for it to be working again. It’s so much easier programming one button on the remote to launch an app than trying to direct my children through using the app via Xbox.

Hi StrangerUK,

Thank you for letting me know - glad that you were able to get it working again.

Unfortunately the Panasonic Smart TV app is still displaying the ‘Plex is not Reachable’ screen for myself and most other Panasonic users.

It would be great if you could please vote to continue to support the Panasonic app so that it is fixed for everyone and continues to work for you.

Cheers

Sorry to hear it’s not resolved for you. Of course I’ll vote if there’s a chance it’ll keep it alive on Panasonic TVs. No problem at all.

Thanks @zmcwest I support your efforts as we have 2 Panasonics and I find now I don’t watch as much Plex material as too fiddly to do via other methods… Hope we see solution - well done!!

Hi Gregn_aus,
Thanks for your vote and support.
Yes exactly the same scenario for me with a few fairly new Panasonic TV’s.
Have not been using Plex myself since the change and I’m not looking to purchase another new tv or extra device.

:+1: yes please fully support.

Another vote for a Panasonic Plex app!

Hello,
same here. I’m very disappointed and I’m waiting for support. It would be great to have EMBY too, but at least one of those solutions should be available. Hopefully, something good will happen.
