Plex Passes are for supporting the software and development, they are not a way to skip to the front of the line for support, a guarantee of support, or an allowance to be rude on the forums.
Will get back to you if/when it ever happens.
I don’t disagree with you. But the forum is the only avenue we have to report bugs. It would be nice if Plex could acknowledge bugs so that we know that they know. It really seems to me that they are feigning ignorance for years about bugs that have been reported many times.
I have worked in the software industry for decades, it is rare for any software company to acknowledge any bugs until they are are patched/fixed. This is not unique to Plex.
In what world do companies not acknowledge bugs… So many companies and projects have public bug/issue trackers.
Plex clearly has an internal bug tracker because there are bug #s listed in the PMS release notes, but they don’t correspond to anything we as a user can see, so there is no way of actually knowing that a bug you are affected by was fixed.
Based on your replies in this thread, you must have worked for some pretty ■■■■■■ companies.
…and you wonder why you can’t get any help on here
Nothing new in the west …
Since years Plex has rather screwed up … pardon me: optimzied … their UI instead of fixing long standing bugs.
Yeah but to be fair they never managed to make it look as bad as Emby.
Honestly … I like Emby! In the sideways scrolling mode IMHO it looks better than Plex.
If you use it for a short while then you get very much used to it. And most importantly: it looks the same on any platform!
The Emby UI does leave some to be desired - definitely not as polished as the Plex UI.
But, there are definitely some benefits.
I find the episodic view to be much nicer (can see episode titles/descriptions for multiple episodes at a time.)
Live TV works a treat and right out of the box, as opposed to having to route through 3rd party tools.
Everything works, all the time. And lastly, the UI/UX is actually consistent across all clients, and all features are present across all clients. This is a big one for me.
Some missing/disparate features in Plex that I can think of, just off the top of my head.
- Unable to click on actor’s thumb in movie details screen on Android, while you can on all other clients.
- Unable to rate a song on Android TV app - while you can on mobile - and you can on all other clients.
- No total movie/TV show count on Android. Why? Just. Why. How is that missing?
- Filtering/sorting movies doesn’t even work the same across the different Plex clients!
I have a ton of random issues with Plex’s Android TV app - random infinite buffering/delays/sound issues. I’ve used it on/off for the past 6 months and have tried to use it daily for the last month but it has been truly painful. Using the app has been painful and trying to get support has been painful.
Related specifically to this I did like that Emby brought up everything when clicking on that thumb. Movie/TV/Music.
Yes, that is very nice. Also, the ability to ‘favorite’ TV shows/movies is very nice. You can even favorite entire actors, collections, etc.
Yeah but to be fair they never managed to make it look as bad as Emby.
Meh. For the most part plex has a nice looking UI, but when so much of the backend code doesn’t work right it’s just putting lipstick on a pig. Emby isn’t flashy, but the UI is just fine and it actually works.
And maybe that’s just it.
I don’t do live TV, DVR or Android devices since I gave up on the Shield.
So probably in my 8 or 9 years of Plex it’s never been as trouble free as it is right now.
Plus I guess the irony of my original comment was missed. It being aimed at someone who just comes back from Emby every now and again over the last few years looking for a suitable post to make a comment.
Maybe it’s just me but if I found a suitable replacement for something that disillusioned me I would probably just be watching my media.

Sometimes I like killing time in other ways besides watching my media. Besides, I also have a plex pass that I wasted money on, so if plex adds something worthwhile I wouldn’t mind getting some value out of my purchase. Sadly though the few times I’ve fired up plex to give it another try, it’s always quickly reminded me of why I had to give up on them.
Please read my post again. I was not referring to you.
Though to be fair I wouldn’t waste my money on a lifetime anything until I was sure it met my needs. If I did I would be blaming myself and not whining.
I also have Emby Premiere.
I no longer use Emby but in my Plex disillusionment days I feel I got my money’s worth with Emby.
Perhaps I’m doing it wrong and I should be complaining about subscribing to a lifetime for something I no longer use on the Emby forums.
I preferred to just move on/back.
Integrated Trakt and the fact I mentioned earlier (about clicking actor thumbs not being library specific.) were the positives to Emby.
Definitely better support too (there, I said it) but that only becomes a requirement if I have an issue.
For some reason the forum showed a notification saying that you had replied to me. Regardless, you have at least one answer now.
pretty convinced you only come back to the forums for name-calling but, glad to hear you found something that works for you
Lol, yea? Link me to one post where I’ve called someone a name.
