I’m surprised this isn’t an option as it is.
I have movies that are very large (10s of GB) and shows where episodes are small (1-2 GB). My use case for downloads is (much like others) to save content on my tablet for travel.
If I use original quality for settings, I can’t download more than a few movies before running out of space. However if I set quality to something lower (say 3mbps which seems like a good quality/size balance to be), then transcoding takes forever.
Of course one fix here is for me to upgrade my rig - spend hundreds of dollars getting a GPU and ensuring drivers work etc. Considering how unreliable downloads (with transcoding) is, I’m not sure I want to fork over that much money.
I feel like a simpler option here would be to allow per-library download settings. I want to configure my Movies to download at 3mbps (which already exist since I create optimized versions of all movies), and Shows at original quality.
