The “/tmp/pms*” folder will be createt by the pms service it selfe. Its randomized.
The problem seams to be that the server has not the rights to read in this folders.

ls -l in /tmp/…

drwxr-xr-x 3 plex plex    4096 Jun 14 19:27 pms-9717be1a-5061-48f9-8808-b48a6386bb47

And the user plex is nearly master on this system.

I know this issue since 1.19.2.* and most of the time a simple reinstall of the server was the solution. Until 1.19.4.… so i was staying on 1.19.3. but right now… the system iss blockt for any playback thats required audio transcode cause of the error in the rights system with folders that the server creats by him selfe!

The problem with this is usually because the inotify table is full (too many directories being monitored and the table fills. EAE requires 2 entries in the table to work properly.

The table size is easily adjusted when you know how many total directories are to be monitored…

When you restart, do you see PMS report “[Notify]: No space left on device” ?

If you have this error then:

Increase the number of directories Linux can monitor (Notify)

The default size of the Linux inotify table is 8192 directories. When PMS is configured to update automatically when media is added, with properly organized media, especially music, this table rapidly fills and exceeds the default allocation.
