Persistent, random issues with Music library

Server Version#: latest
Player Version#: latest

  1. Albums are randomly dis-aggregated. I have not noticed a particular pattern to it. I cannot fathom why it does it with some albums and not others. How can I fix this manually?

  2. Individual tracks show up in the UI with the album name, instead of track name. Please show individual files with track name, rather than album name. Please use 2 lines of text. Truncated files names are too short to be useful. If not by default, then please make these optional switches.

  3. Does not default to album art stored in the folder. Does not show embedded art from the file. Sometimes all the image files are picked up from the folder, but none is selected by default. Sometimes no image files are picked up. In my case, between defaults of ‘cover’ and ‘front’ nearly every new addition should display properly. I am really tired of manually editing new additions. There has been no improvement in Music management in the 2+ years I’ve been using Plex. It still feels like a beta. (Movies and videos are managed fine mostly, and feels like a polished experience.)

  4. No way to remove image files from the ‘Poster’ tab of file properties. Please enable a remove / delete function.

  5. Plex is eating up drive space relentlessly. Video library is not large. Video thumbnail previews is turned off. Old previews deleted. Music library is under 69,000 files. I have turned off Loudness analysis. Will the saved analysis data be deleted automatically? Can I manually delete old databases? Is there a way to clean up and trim the drive space usage?

Thank you.

I added two new folders, with a few dozen items to my Music library. Now it is showing up empty! It emptied my Music library, while eating up 2+ Gb of drive space I freed up this morning. WTH is going on??? It is going to take days to re-scan the whole music library. Insane!

It looks to me like the more new features and functions are added, the more jittery and unstable the basic functions become.

I installed Plex on a Windows 7 machine as a backup to the Linux server. The media contents are identical. The album art setting is ‘Local files only’ and it worked for around 95% of the library. It will take many hours spread out over many days to fix the 5% of blanks manually. I’m up to the letter D so far. It reports 2230 artists in total.

The Linux machine is stuck at 2903 artists for over 24 hours. Foobar 2000 reports 3339 artists in the library. Some of those are in unsupported formats, like ISO. So the scan may be complete. Album art is populating, very slowly. 5% or so done so far.

I am going to go over the feature requests forum, and ask for a backup / restore function. This crash has wiped out a lot of my time and labor. I have no interest in 3rd party content, so all the new features are of no value to me.
