Personal media no longer available when matching shows

Server Version#: Version 1.24.2.4973
Player Version#:
Added new lectures from The Great Courses. Most of these are not in standard dBs. In the past I populated the the metadata manually using MetaX. Then when Plex was unable to identify the show I would select personal media. I have mutiple plex servers and do not wish to individually edit each. All the appropriate metadata is loaded, why did we lose this ability?

Simply “unmatch” at the show level.

At the show level, the ellipse menu, no longer contains fix match, only match. When I select Match the only agent is Plex TV which does not contain my show…

This means the show is already unmatched.
There is no need to do anything further.

In previous versions, Personal Media was an agent option in the Match window. When selected it would locate the metadata I had stored in each video, title poster summary etc. I have no ability to select that option so the show is unmatched. I want the ability for the agent to retrieve the metadata I have already manually stored in the video. The current version prevents me from doing that now.

How did you do this?
Plex does only support embedded meta tags in mp4/m4v files.
If your mp4 files do contain embedded meta data like Title and Description, Plex should read them - no matter whether the show is matched or not.

What kind of library is this?
Which “scanner” and “agent” has been set in the properties of the library?

I populated tags using Meta X app as I mentioned. I have not modified default agents, ever. I believe I noticed a Plex announcement that the agents were changing. In the past versions when I added such videos (lectures from The Great Courses), the normal scan would NOT find my tags until I redirected the agent to Personal Media.

You have probably converted this library to the new “Plex TV Series” agent, which behaves different than the old agents.

So all your embedded meta data are appearing, right?

All the previously matched lectures are showing properly. However, I just added a new lecture series that I am trying to scan and match. You are correct that the agent is the Plex TV Series agent which does not contain my lecture. Are you saying I should intentionally mismatch it to expose the Fix Match option where I will be able to select Personal Media like before?

There is no need to match it against any agent, if it cannot be matched anyway.

Please clarify how your newly added series is looking right now in Plex.
What is missing (or wrong)?

Poster, episode title, genre, studio, year, season summary, episode summary, etc (basically everything I loaded using Meta X).

What happens after you trigger “Refresh Metadata” at the show level?

Nothing.

You should at least see the episode titles populating. Perhaps episode descriptions as well.

Plex cannot populate show-level and season-level metadata from embedded metadata.

It used to find the poster that I saved in the series level folder named “Folder.jpg” and the genres. I would have to edit series and season level summaries.

Are you following the plex naming schema?
When I try to add custom show and season posters I get them recognized instantly.

And the folder.jpg is located inside the top level folder?
season01.jpg is of course supposed to be inside /Season 01

Are you using any other file formats than jpg?

Are there any arbitrary folder levels above of /Tocqueville and the American Experiment (2004)?

Just .jpg. The parent folder is Lectures which the target of my Lectures library.

Yes, that is perfect.

An experiment: Could you try to match this series to any random tv show, then unmatch it again and refresh metadata?
