Version - 1.33.0.2444-a220eae4
Running on Windows 10
Long story short is I lost my Plex server due to lightening. Had to restore from a 1 year old backup copy due to losing other backup copies. Updated to the latest and had to add in / reanalyze my media. Other than recently added (ex now added media since its been restored and running) newTV shows everything else shows a release date of January 1, 1900.
Read elsewhere back in 2020 there was a bug that it wasn’t working properly on movies but can’t find anything with TV shows.
Tried to reorder agents, Rescan / reanalyze manually, modify the file to include the correct date and nothing seems to pull in other than manually setting it on each episode.
Do have debugging enabled but don’t see anything in regards to released date in the logs updating or staying the same in the matcher or analysis log. Can upload them if needed.
Libraries were / are “updated” to the newer agent before scanning.
I was able to recover the files from my previous downed server so I have the old database if there’s any help with that.
Digging around further I didn’t realize there was more metadata settings for each area (movies, TV Shows, Music, Etc) I edited “TV Shows,” Chose Advanced, and unchecked “Prefer Local Metadata.” Saved Changes. Did a metadata refresh and now is coming up with the correct date. Interesting that if there’s no date it’d still prefer 1900 (no date) vs going and finding the date.
I’m still having the same issue. It’s annoying as it’s random shows are coming up with the 1900 air date. If episodes of 5 different shows are added, 2 will have the 1900 air date. I’ve done everything I can thing of to fix it, but no luck.
Have you checked oddie121’s solution by either removing (empty) embedded release date/year tags or disabling Prefer embedded metadata for that library?
After the full metadata refresh, it fixed most of the shows. I still have a couple that are still showing a 1900 air date, but I can live with this. Hopefully this will resolve the issue going forward.
running into the same issue, but, i’ve flipped my library config to disable Prefer embedded metadata and tried to refresh everything (and a specific file that doesn’t have it’s metadata)
digging in the logs… this seems suspect…
Nov 14, 2021 19:43:05.642 [0x7f7dc163a848] WARN - Caught exception trying to convert extra data attribute 'originallyAvailableAt' with type 1 and value '2021-03-11' ~ bad lexical cast: source type value could not be interpreted as target
I have discovered a bug that can cause this when “Prefer local metadata” is enabled on the library.
If you have this library setting enabled, please make sure you actually need it enabled. If you don’t curate your own metadata tags inside the media files there is no reason to use this option. Disabling this option and refreshing the metadata should resolve your issue.
A fix for the case where “Prefer local metadata” is required will be in a future PMS update at some point. A work-around for now is to do a Plex Dance on the problem show.
I have “Prefer local metadata” enabled for that Library. It’s my ongoing experience that Plex does not consistently use local metadata over what it discovers with an agent.
