PGS subtitles not burning in using mpv; timing issues

I am having issues with playing back Blu-ray Disc rips on the Apple TV 4K when it comes to subtitles. I tend to keep subtitles in PGS format as that’s what is on the disc. I was under the impression that all image subtitles require burn in, but it seams that the mpv player is directly streaming them (shown as “direct stream” in dashboard) regardless of what option I pick in settings for handling subtitles. The issue I am having is when a line of dialogue exceeds some limit, the subtitle will prematurely disappear. This happens regularly and repeatedly. If I switch to the older avplayer, PGS subtitles are burned in and there is no timing issues.

If PGS subtitles can finally be directly streamed and played by Apple TV’s mpv engine, that’s amazing, but why is it that they disappear before the line is finished?

This could be an issue with the Plex client or the underlying libmpv it’s using. I would suggest taking the file with the issue and playing it back on the current version of mpv first to see if the same issue happens.
