I’m searching thru the Forums, YouTube Channels and the web, and I am not finding good info on how Plex handles photos. I mostly see negative comments around how bad Plex does handle photo libraries/folders that have already been created. I do not want to import my thousands of photos that are already in folders to then see them as one big pile. Can someone provide videos, more documentation around how Plex does this? I will be using a Drobo NAS with most of my Apple devices.
I’d love to know the answer to this problem too. What’s the point of having another app which views photos if it doesn’t work with a photo filing system you already have? Who wants to start over with importing?
I’m asking again…

I think that this question should be put in this new https://forums.plex.tv/categories/photos and not here. I can move it if you want.
Hey @moody_blue , please do!
The Photo Library has two viewing modes - Timeline and “Photos.” The “Photos” mode simply mirrors the folder structure on your storage device.
My top-level folders look like this:
So my top-level Photo Library looks like this:
Second-level folders on the hard drive appear as second-level “galleries” in Plex. You can drill down through galleries just as you would drill down through folders.
Timeline is new, and is, regrettably IMO, the default view for a new Library. Switching views has moved around a bit in recent weeks, and the Help page is a bit out of date. Switching views in Plex Web is achieved via a dropdown menu:
Timeline view gives you a chronological view:
The Timeline view is pretty new, and it seems to have some issues. I don’t use it much, because that view doesn’t fit my way of doing things.
Thanks @beckfield , this to me is a better explanation than what I see in the FAQ/Articles resource.
