photo library: sort by title is not working

A photo library cannot be sorted by title
In the log we see that sorting is done first at ‘photo.originallyAvailableAt’ and second at ‘photo.titleSort’

Sorting in one of the other tree ways is done correctly:

We are using plex only for showing photos and we want them sorted by the file name we gave them.

When replacing … sort=photo.originallyAvailableAt%2Cphoto.titleSort …
by … sort=titleSort … results in the photos being sorted by title.

Where do you make the above change? Not just in the log files I guess?

Actually I can confirm that this is a problem in all clients (Android, IOS, etc) as well. I am sure this was working before.

I wish there was a way to amend this. I want to use Plex to view comics, but it doesn’t sort very well. I have tried to rename them alphabetically, by numbers, I’ve tried to change the dates on the files using ACDSee - nothing works. It seems like such a small issue to be so problematic. I mean if the most basic viewing programs can sort alphabetically, and Plex doesn’t. It leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth as I am a Plex Pass user.

Did anybody ever get an official answer ? It looks like recently the sort within folders has gone belly up. Can’t figure out how its sorted but its definitely not by name and there is no where to select the sort order within a folder. Yes you can sort your folders by name but not the photos within a folder - STUPID and complete useless…good that I didn’t pay anything.

@Lucien47 - where do you make that change of the sort ??

Does anybody know what was the last Plex Server version where the sort worked ?

Hi There - Just tried an older version 1.3.2.3112 which works perfectly fine for photo sort in folders. I also tried 1.7.0.3840 but that didn’t work so I’m going to try 1.4.xxx, 1.5.xxx and 1.6.xx to see if which one of the later versions are working. But if somebody know please update this forum…

Finally got it to work. Just use the version 1.5 and the sort in folders works. PLEX please fix the latest version so the sort works.

Latest server 1.11.0 and latest iOS 4.23 finally fixed my picture sorting issue, by not having sort by folder.
Go to Plex download and choose Plex Pass before downloading.

but nobody cares…

Without the ability to sort photos by filename/title within an album or folder, the Photos functionality is useless to me. Plex devs, it sure seems like this would be a simple feature to add (or fix, since it sounds like it used to work?). What’s the holdup?

There has never been an ability to manually sort a sub folder. Regardless I made a feature request report for subfolders to be sortable/filterable like the top level. I make no promises or ETA
