Some files not showing up in library, how to manually add them?

Setup is an external hard drive connected to a windows computer. I’ve had Plex for a while and recently wiped the external hard drive and re-added the files to get things cleaned up. The file path is Movies>Movie Folder>then poster and video file. Almost all of the movies showed up when I performed the Update Libraries but there are about 20 movie folders that do not show up in Plex. I have tried all the filters for Unmatched, Duplicates, and so on but nothing. I’m able to manually add a folder and the poster but no where am I able to point it to the movie file on the external hard drive. Tags is not displayed when I try to edit the information for the folder and Info won’t let me add a file path. It can’t be this difficult the manually add a folder and point it to the correct file path on the external hard drive, what am I missing? Also, Plex software is up to date. Thanks!

That’s not how Plex works. You only point your library to a top-level library folder. There’s no means to add individual movies by folders or their file path.

What do you see if you navigate your library By Folder and go to the folder of one of the missing movies?
Any details about the naming of your files, permissions?
Are those files of the same media type as the library (e.g. movie in movie library, tv-episodes in tv-show library…) and supported formats (e.g. no ISO or other disc images)?

In that folder I have the mp4 file, a jpg of the movie poster and an nfo file, the folder is set to read only. I checked another folder that is showing up in Plex and everything is exactly the same. Only thing I haven’t tried is deleting the movies, have Plex scan the external hard drive, then un plug the hard drive, add the deleted movies back onto it, reconnect and have Plex scan again.

Would you mind sharing your server logs and a hint which file it doesn’t find – maybe that’ll show what’s going wrong?

Is there a specific file you need? Looks like a bunch of text files in the zip.

Preferably the entire zip file.

Thanks for sharing your logs.
As per the comment above, you should not add individual movie folders to your library. It seems your movie library is currently pointing to D:\Movies\ and D:\Movies\13\.

Beyond that… from what I can see, the scanner does see the respective files. Could it be they’ve been mismatched as something different? Your naming is a limited to the bare minimum – including the release year for each movie can do wonders for Plex recognizing things correctly (especially for such super-short names like 13). Plex can otherwise sometimes identify the movies as some entirely different movie which makes them near impossible to find.

They should however still show if you navigate your library By Folder and navigate e.g. to the folder 13 to identify what movie Plex thinks is located there.
Side note: this particular example will probably not work at the moment due to 13 being considered a library folder).

Did I see correct that you’re still using a legacy agent for this library?

I’ts just weird that I’m now having problems as this is the naming/file system I’ve used for years. The only thing different is the movies were on the drive, then I whipped the drive to clean everything up and then re-added the movies. Never had this problem before.

I imagine I am still using a legacy agent as I’m not even sure what that is, haha. I only do the updates that I get notices from Plex when I fire up the app or log into the server. Is there a newer agent that I can install that might help? Thanks again.
